Well my local grocery store is having a deal where you can make your own 6 pack. I bought a couple types of Hefeweizen and draft ciders and gave Heineken a try again. I has been years since I had my last Heineken and it still tastes bitter and IMO bad I dont understand how so many people can like that beer.
What would be a good beer to try out when I make my next 6 pack?

May want to give us a better idea of their selection. There have been some pretty solid "commercial" beers (Bass, Honey Brown, etc...) that your average beer drinker does not drink. There have also been some really good imports and micro brews (Leffe, Fat Tyre, etc...) that most grocery stores do not have.
I assume the fact that they have a "make your own six pack" deal going means they have a pretty good selection, but you never know.

Funny you should say that. I was discussing this with some friends over the week end, and the consensus was Heineken has changed over the last several years and is now very sweet. It my be just the stuff that gets sent over here to accommodate the American taste and attract more women to the brand. My wife can even drink it now and she had always turned her nose up at it. The same thing goes for all of the AB offereings. They are all sweeter, or at least they seem like that to me.
There are so many beers to choose from these days, and many are very good. But, you need to select a type that appeals to you. I for instance like IPA’s. Sierra Nevada, Doghead Fish, and Stone are all good domestic IPA’s. But if you don’t like IPA’s no matter how good they are you won’t enjoy them.
Colorado and Oregon seem to have a lot of small quality brewers. Look for beers from those states. That's not to say there are no good offerings from other states, it just seems these two offers some good ones.

If you like Hefeweizen try Blue Moon or its darker brother Full Moon. IPA's are really good. Stella Artois is tasty.

Pretty much any Ippa beer. Why there are so many breweries making Ippa I'll never know!
Come to think of it, you might not like Ippa's. They tend to have a lot of hops in them. Try the ambers, nutbrowns, weiss(wheat beer) pilsners and lagers first. They tend to have more of a sweeter, malty flavor. But sooner or later, you will be enjoying IPA's.
My faves are Broken Halo IPA, Stone IPA and Ruination. I also enjoy most all offerings from Full Sail, Ice Harbor (local brew)and Deschuttes. But my most favorite kind is Free.

I also would Like to recommend anything by Great lakes Brewing Company. Equally as good as Sam Adams. Blue moon is very good and also a Wheat beer..So you should also like about any IPA.

Mackeson Triple Stout, McEwan's, Atwater Vanilla Java Porter, Magic Hat, Dog Fish Head, Beck's Dark, Yuengling Black and Tan, Yuengling Porter, Boddington's Pub Ale, Troeg's, Great Lakes Brewing, or for a more commercial beer try Blue Moon's Wheat Beer with an orange slice. I've done my fair share of taste testing, one of the best ways I've found is to find the ones with the most interesting labels and names. Magic hat has a double udder beer and fat angel, you'll understand if you see the labels. Be adventurous, if you don't like it someone else will.

My beers of choice...right now...are: Red Stripe, Guinness, Shiner Boheminan Black Lager and Samuel Adams Cream Stout.
