Is it just me or does any one else notice this?

Whenever I try shoes on in my size, if they are made in prc, the right side has a pinch point; either at the big toe joint and/or small toe joint. The left side is fine.

I see this ONLY with shoes made in prc. I especially noticed this on the last pair of shoes I bought: it was actually dual sourced (but different color). Same model, one made in prc, one in vietnam (I think - the label is worn out). The one made in prc had the pinch points. The one made in vietnam were comfortable.

So, maybe my right foot is weird (possible) and prc making to spec. Or vietnam is not making the right side to spec but it's good for me.

Problem is that my made in usa Danner shoes fit fine.

The prc shoe problem seems to span brand and models. I avoid prc products but this is another reason to avoid their shoes....

Just me? Or something wrong with prc made right side shoes?

Yes right shoe causes foot pain near the sesamoid bones. It's a problem with Vietnam made shoes too.

The most comfortable pair of casual shoes I bought recently were made in Vietnam (Rockport).

They were light and fit like a used glove.

A few months ago I tried to buy another pair. They were heavy, uncomfortable and now made in India. I passed.

Aside - GF has bought excellent fitting clothing made in Vietnam. (Talbots}

I have a pair of Oboz that are a better than most third world made shoe. Everything else I have that I count on and are excellent quality is either USA made or European made. No need for prc type garbage.

If it were just one brand or or one model within a brand, I'd condemn the place of manufacture.

Spanning brands would lead me to believe that it has to do with the form they are provided by the contractor

Went to the store to buy shoes. Weird. Every prc pair hurt on the right side. I bought a pair of shoes made in Vietnam that were comfortable.

After years of buying shoes, this isn’t an aberration but a pattern for me now.

Over the past 5 years or so, whenever I went to buy shoes, shoes made in prc would either hurt on the right foot either in the store or while trying to break them in (and then return them). Recently bought two pairs of shoes online and both hurt on the right foot. Both made in prc.

Returned both pairs, went to the local store and tried on a few pairs. Some made in prc, some from vietnam, one from India. All the shoes from prc hurt the right foot. Bought a pair (Solomon) made in VM.

It’s seems to be a pattern for me - shoes made in prc hurt my right foot.

Konata, how much did you spend on the VM shoes. Just curious. How long do you expect them to last? I have some Zamberlan that I know will last a good long time with hard use. They can be had for roughly $200. Made in Italy. Some great shoes/boots. There are others. I know you can not typically go to the mall and buy. But light years better than what 90% of the people buy from places like prc and vn.

I had the same problem with New Balance, and they're made in the US. Well, Massachusetts, anyway.

It's not uncommon for your feet to be slightly different sizes. Most places only mesure one of them, if they even know how to measure feet at all anymore.

I have a pair of usa Danner and Belleville boots for serious hiking. Never heard of Zamberlan before but will keep them in mind.

These shoes are for mixed terrain trail walking for health. 2-4 times per week. Last about 2 years. I try to pay about $100.

Solomon’s today were $110 on sale.

Lots of New Balance are no longer made in USA. You have to be careful when buying to check.

This is probably the first thread I've seen where China was called the PRC. It took me a few minutes to realize what the OP was talking about.

These go to eleven.
