I freely admit that I barely remember all the grammar rules from 7th grade. Big Grin

They don't teach this stuff in school anymore. Few people I know under age 35 understand the difference between a subject and object and other basic fundamentals of grammar. Many of these people have college degrees.

Most people I know over 65 had this stuff hammered into them by 6th grade. Who else here remembers sentence diagramming?

UGH! I absolutely despised doing that. It seemed we did it for YEARS. My kids are in 1st and Kindergarten. If they have to learn that, that will be my wife's job.

They did at my daughter’s school. She’s 23.

I definitely remember diagramming. I’m 52

I definitely remember diagramming sentences in Freshman English in High School. (Also remember my Freshman English teacher, Mrs. Rolfe. She was hot...)

Little foggy on whether or not I ever did it after that.

How about "I" vs "me"? I hear them mis-used all the time.

For example, my manager will often say "Get back to Steve or I with any questions" etc.

He covers that in Part 2.

But EVERYONE says "It's me" (when the correct form would be "It's I"). "That's them" is also pretty common (should be "those are they").

Exactly. I also hear "me and her went to the store" etc. That is a bad one. I am guilty of saying "its me" even though I know it is wrong. "It is I" just sounds too much like a prissy Brit.

Two of the most misused words on shooting/gun forums are sight and site. I can't count the number of times I've read that someone has installed new sites on their pistol.

Now, neither of these words should be confused with cite or the user will be cited for not using their sights properly on this web site.

Another pair of frequently misused words are brake and break. How many muzzle "breaks" have you read about? Must be a lot of broken barrels.
