Please count me in. Roasting coffee beans has been something I have thought about trying. How did you first start out?

Congrats on the new roaster.

I had a home made drum setup for years, but dismantled it when I moved to TX. Kept the custom drum and rotisserie system, but gave up the propane grill part of the setup. I just need to find some space for one in my garage, then I will get another grill and start ordering from Sweet Marias again.

A cast iron pot, a whisk, colander, thermometer, a box fan, and watched a bunch of you tube videos. Start with small batches. It's easy, but messy... best done outside.

Thanks Jeff.
I guess it is like you said, watch YouTube experiment, and like every thing in life it takes time to master. There is nothing like the taste of fresh coffee. One of lifes little pleasures.

If you are committed to giving it a try....and stick with it until you figure it out.... Instant Karma for you! If you email me your address I will send you the cast iron pot I've use for 10 years.

It can only be used to roast coffee. Every time you roast the oils from the beans 'soak into the pot. It has a mirror finish in the corners. I'll toss the thermometer in as well. You'll just need a sturdy stainless steel whisk and a box fan.

Jeff,

Id love to be included in this karma even though I drink espresso or damned Kerurig coffee. I’ll get a filter and make some melita type brew.

That said, my screen name comes from coking beans. Specifically coffee beans. I was the Director of Coffee Development for a decent sized coffee company in the Pacific Northwest. If you would ever like to chat about coffee and roasting, I may be able to give you some ideas or inspiration. Shoot me an email and I’ll send you my phone number so we can chat about coffee, if you’re interested.
Smile

I'd like to be included, and I live in the USA.
Actually not very far from you over in TN (I was in Maggie Valley for 5 days at the beginning of October).

Oh, but unlike Sigfest (who apparently only "likes" coffee) I truly love coffee!! Big Grin

Sign me up, please.... thanks!
