Can't tell from the OP how long ago this happened; if it's a "Tale from Dorm Life" it could've been a while back. Can't find any tracks on Google, so I imagine it went quietly away. Stupid isn't a crime, but tampering with a vehicle is, and harassing a working dog is in many places... which is probably how any discussion about liability/negligence should go. | |||

I have been intoxicated once or twice. I have walked past unattended K-9 units in the military a few times, and LE units more times than I can remember. I have never had the urge to open the door, nor walk so close as to give the appearance of shenanigans to Officer Paws nor his stick throwing guy. And I have never been bit. So she’s out walking around in public, admittedly drunk. She sees an unattended and unlocked police car with a K9 in the back. Nobody’s around so using her best judgement, she decides to open the door to let the dog out. The dog doesn’t bite the closest thing, her hand, it bites her in the face. Sheesh...like it’s been noted, she was probably sticking her head in the dogs space and he felt threatened. I’ve known a few K9 dogs, and yes, each one slightly different, but they were all trained well. Even though I knew a couple on a yes, pet me basis, I still would not assume I could open the door while they were on duty and escape scot free. Sheer stupidity on her part. | |||
