Requiring government authorization to transfer a firearm creates a choke-point.

What's the point of creating a choke-point if you're not going to choke it?

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People again must learn to work, instead of living on public assistance. ~ Cicero 55 BC

Despite some people's claims to the contrary, 5 lbs. is actually different than 12 lbs.

Considering that the choke points have essentially been cut off on a whim, it would be good to have this run up through the courts. The only problem is that someone would have to get arrested, pay all the legal bills, and then live with the outcome.

Not necessarily. Wouldn't someone who wants to buy a gun now and cannot because the government office is closed due to quarantine have standing?

My WAG was that it would take longer to get through the courts than the quarantine would last, meaning the case would probably be mooted if someone wasn't actually facing penalties. Then again, the courts have been known to hear cases because the likelihood of an (alleged) abuse happening again was high enough.

Like him or not, Piazza is making an effort to capture some of the 'new' market...Front Sight is offering some 'at home' training guidance, including a self study handgun course for $1.

Obviously no substitute for hands-on instruction, it looks like you could do alot worse for a buck. It seems to actually be more of a structured educational format, not just general discussions/brain dumps from folks on YT.

But other than the obvious business/profit aspect, most could probably agree if at least some of the recent 'new to gun ownership' crowd could be get some quality education/training...from FS or anywhere else...that would be a good thing, and perhaps put them on a more pro 2A path.

Liberals Panicked by Virus Are Trying to Buy Guns, and Are Shocked and Outraged About All the Hoops They Have to Jump Through

Hoops they ignorantly demanded.

Happy now?

I was chatting with a friend of mine recently and the topic of gun sales came up. My friend’s father owns a gun range near me and she said h'’s seen a huge amount of liberals coming in to purchase weapons in recent weeks.

How does he know they're liberals?

"They're shocked to discover they can’t just walk out of the store with a gun."

Kira Davis quotes a gun store owner she knows:

We tried to look at just who the new firearm purchasers were and we believe that more than 60% of these individuals were first time buyers. I can't describe the amount of fear in my staff as we had the buyers show proof of safe handling as part of the purchase process as required by law. You have never seen so many barrels pointed at sales staff and other customers. It was truly frightening. We had to keep stopping the process to give quick safety lessons. We are adding many more basic classes in the coming weeks and encouraged these buyers to please attend. We hope they do.

When liberals say that citizens are too incompetent -- mentally, physically, and emotionally -- to own guns, they're universalizing from their own N=1 sample.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
