Sean Hannity is fighting for his survival

On Friday, Sean Hannity reignited efforts by enemies of his on the left to take him off the air via putting pressure on his advertisers to dump his show. His telephone interview with Senate nominee Roy Moore, broadcast live on his radio show and replayed later on his nightly Fox News Channel program, actually won more praise than might have been expected from a variety of analysts.

Hannity asked Moore tough questions and got the former judge to go on the record. The interview represented Moore’s first spoken comments on the controversy since the story was initially reported on Thursday in the Washington Post.

Almost immediately, his enemies, in particular Media Matters for America, struck. Earlier attempts of this kind, including last May after Hannity reported on the unsolved murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich, did not succeed.

But now, over the past weekend, according to Forbes, Deadline Hollywood, the Daily Caller, and hundreds if not thousands of other media outlets, this latest “kill shot” (as Hannity termed such efforts last May) aimed at the country’s #1 cable news host may be gaining traction.

CNBC reported on Sunday:

At least five companies said over the weekend that they will no longer advertise their products during Fox News’ “Hannity” television show. . . Keurig, Realtor.com, 23 and Me, Eloquii and Nature's Bounty all pulled their ads from the television show, in response to Fox host Sean Hannity’s coverage of the sexual misconduct allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.

Hannity, never one to support boycotts, has not specifically called for a boycott of the advertisers who are deserting him. Instead, he has posted tweets on his Twitter feed about his interest in what his fans and critics of the advertisers are doing.

He also announced on Sunday evening:

Deplorable friends, I am buying 500 coffee makers tomorrow to give away!! Details on radio and TV. Hint; best videos!!

Chances are these will not be Keurig coffee makers.

Media Matters for America (MMFA), the far-left group founded by David Brock to attack conservative media, is behind the boycott Hannity campaign. In fact, Keurig tweeted a thank you to MMFA’s president, Angelo Carusone, for calling Hannity’s coverage of the Moore case to the company’s attention:

Angelo, thank you for your concern and for bringing this to our attention. We worked with our media partner and FOX news to stop our ad from airing during the Sean Hannity Show.

On his Twitter account, Hannity has tweeted a link to a Web site – registered to the domain angelocarusone dot com – that is titled and alleges “Angelo Carusone Exposed! Anti-Gay, Anti-Semitic and Racist.”

On Sunday, a counter campaign among Hannity’s supporters to boycott the boycotting advertisers – Keurig in particular – quickly took off on social media. As the work week starts today, the second large viral wave of coverage of this issue is mostly about the spread instigated by Hannity’s fans of boycotts of the advertisers who have ended sponsorship of his program.

The stakes in this emerging fight couldn’t be higher. Sean Hannity, and a handful of other high profile conservative hosts on Fox News, represent the last thin line in the mainstream media that is left standing against the almost universal fake news onslaught by the MSM aimed at taking down President Donald Trump. Last April, advertisers who deserted Fox News’ #1 program at the time, The O’Reilly Factor, after allegations of sexual harassment by host Bill O’Reilly resurfaced in the media, got the host of that program summarily fired in less than three weeks.

Well... they want him taken down because David Brock and George Soros and the rest at MMA are far leftists... and because he is the host of the #1 program on cable news and the #2 nationally syndicated political talk radio show.

Interviewing Moore is just an excuse to put the plan into action.

MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION: The Case For Boycotting Keurig

On Sunday, conservatives fought back against Keurig Coffee’s decision to pull advertising from Sean Hannity’s Fox News show. The Keurig decision came on the heels of a campaign from Media Matters, a left-wing agitprop organization dedicated to launching astroturfed boycotts against conservative hosts ranging from Rush Limbaugh to Hannity to Mark Levin.

Media Matters began its campaign by putting out a false transcript of a Hannity interview on his radio show discussing the sexual molestation allegations against Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore. Media Matters’ version of the transcript had Hannity acquiescing in a guest’s description of sexual activity with a 14-year-old as consensual; he said no such thing. Actually, Hannity has consistently said that if such allegations are proven, Moore should step down.

Next, Media Matters suggested that Hannity had defended Moore, even though Hannity’s discussion with Moore was one of Hannity’s better interviews – an interview in which Moore came off dicey at best.

Keurig responded to Media Matters’ astroturf campaign by announcing they had pulled their advertisements. So conservatives rallied to Hannity’s defense by announcing they would boycott Keurig. Some even went so far as to smash their Keurig machines – an odd decision, considering they had already bought them. If they really wanted to undercut Keurig, they would sell their machines on eBay and flood the market.

So, are people right to boycott Keurig?

In a normal time, the answer is obviously no: Keurig is a company seeking viewers on a mainstream show, and decided they no longer wanted to undergo controversy. That’s their call. But we’re living in a time where Media Matters routinely makes up controversies, then badgers advertisers into dropping shows that aren’t particularly controversial. The goal of a boycott of Keurig isn’t to boycott Keurig, but to teach the Left that such boycotts can backfire.

Now, this is an awkward way of doing it. The better way to teach Leftists to move away from boycott tactics is to reverse them against Leftist hosts – to create a mutually assured destruction, as we attempted to do at Truth Revolt, when we led campaigns against MSNBC hosts Martin Bashir and Alec Baldwin. But this is a situation where if the Left isn’t taught that boycotts can run both ways, we’re likely to see politicized products from now until the end of time.

Keurig .. Boycott.. Not that necessary in my house.

They originally had a pretty well made machine then discontinued it. So once original died after 3 yrs.. not very long in my book. My wife since gone back to a traditional coffee maker, I used it less often than she did. More durable and if you want one cup then make 2-3 and save rest for later.

Or buy Jet alert @ WalMart and get your caffeine pick up in pill form. Jet helped me avoid Starbucks as well. Thanks Jet!

KEURIG BACKING DOWN: Coffee Company Admits Public Decision To Pull Ads From Hannity Created 'Unacceptable Situation'

On Monday, Keurig CEO Bob Gamgort issued a memorandum to employees denouncing his own company’s Twitter announcement that it had pulled advertising from Sean Hannity’s television program on Fox News. That advertising pullout came in the wake of an astroturfed campaign from Media Matters based on false allegations that Hannity expressed support for child molestation and had attacked sexual assault accusers.

The pullout led to a massive backlash on Twitter, where Keurig owners began smashing their machines and announcing that they would boycott the company.

Finally, Gamgort responded thusly:

Gamgort acknowledged that normally they would “pause” advertising on a program and re-evaluated later, but stated, “the decision to publicly communicate our programming decision via our Twitter account was highly unusual. This gave the appearance of ‘taking sides’ in an emotionally charged debate that escalated on Twitter and beyond over the weekend, which was not our intention.” He called the tweets “outside of company protocols.”

Gamgort did not say they would reinstate advertising with Hannity, but his acknowledgement that the outside blowback has created an effect inside the company will surely encourage more conservatives to continue to pressure the company for its politicization.

Translated, Well we fucked up, big time

We regret our decision to alienate half the market as it will hurt our bonus checks and stock option values...

We are sorry that our decision upset you and we now know to keep this shit quiet and just pull the advertising as a part of normal contracts and move to a different platform vs opening our mouths and shoving our political agenda into the market place.

So...Keurig is trying to pull a Carbonite?

Remember how Carbonite dumped Rush over all that phony bullshit, then tried to come crawling back after they realized that a HUGE part of their revenue came from talk radio hosts like him?

He laughed in their faces and told them to go pound sand and IIRC they are a shadow of their former selves.

Keurig makes Coffee Makers with DRM on them. You literally can't make other people's coffee in their machines without "hacking" them.

Keurig can go piss up a rope regardless of their politics.

Not true.

I use refillable adapters with Aldi German coffee in mine and it works just fine.

They *tried* for a short time IIRC to make the K-cup holder just slightly incompatible with these type adapters but I think they backed off of it.

Never have used a Keurig; never intend to use a Keurig. If/When I want coffee, I’ll make a pot using Folger’s ground in my Krupp’s drip maker.

For sure!

Our neighbor lady has one of those machines. She only drinks about 2 cups of coffee a day and figured it would be easier with a machine that only made one cup. She is on her 3rd one.

I made the mistake of drinking a cup of that crap and determined that I would NEVER do it again. Some really bad tasting crap.

We drink a lot of coffee, and we brew it with a drip coffee maker, using Kirkland coffee.

The article misses the point. The money is in the K-Cups, not the machine. Sort of like printers.
