As someone who loves the game of baseball, the game of chess, counts passenger plane seat rows from multiple emergency exits, periodically scans the area I'm in and generally tries to maintain SA...not to mention a habit of counting ceiling tiles and people watching, I tend to contemplate the estoteric.

A year or two ago, after contemplating the forum, I broke out a scale, a compass, a sextant, a GPS, a Norden Bombsight, the Quadratic Formula, a ouija board, a voodoo doctor, an old priest and a young priest, and a Happy Medium...and came up with LDD .

Outstanding choice for taking over the helm when a change in command is called for!

How do the bills work?

For instance

If you turn the forum off from noon on Friday until noon in Monday,

Can you get a discount on the bill?

No, it's metered, just like gas, water, electric current and the like.

I appreciate what you guys have done and are doing especially this continuity planning.

Not too many people like to arrange their exit plan. I have a tracker on google sheets how many days I have left statistically based on actuarial tables.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Para, I've only been here for about six years. In that time I haven't personally met anyone.

However, I do believe that I have come to know a large number of people.

This forum has a place in my heart for which I am grateful.

My hope is that you outlive me by many years, maybe even decades.

In line with what nukeandpave has said I would say that you are the heart and soul of this community.

We are all better because of that.

Thank you.

Para, I have made a fool of myself here and you have been gracious and fair and understanding, firm but fair. I cannot imagine how hard it must be at times to moderate a forum such as this. I say this having recently been recruited reluctantly into becoming a mod on a brand specific watch group I follow. It’s a lot of work and our flock is small. Its not fun to have to shut down threads etc but your management of the forum borders on perfection. I mean that. You do an excellent job and have carved out a bit of good and truth in an internet filled with stupidity and ignorance. I cherish my membership here and the contributions of our members.

To be chosen to take on the mantle of this forum is an incredible honor. When the time comes, I will rely both upon what I've learned from Parabellum, and also upon the continued the civility and good nature of our members.

But make no mistake: the mantle remains upon Parabellum's capable shoulders and long may it rest there.
