Watch: Durbin Used ‘Chain’ Migration Term That He Now Claims is Racist in White House Immigration Meeting

by JOHN BINDER12 Jan 2018Washington, D.C. 7,344

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) used the term “chain” migration in a White House immigration meeting, despite now denouncing President Trump’s use of the term, which is used to describe the process where newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. with them.
Durbin told the media on Friday that he reprimanded Trump for using the term “chain migration” in immigration negotiations, claiming it was associated with racism, despite the Illinois senator just this week also using the term.

Durbin said in an interview:

That was the nature of this conversation. When it came to the issue of, quote, “chain migration,” I said to the president, do you realize how painful that term is to so many people? African-Americans believe they migrated to America in chains and when you talk about chain migration, it hurts them personally. [Emphasis added]

Durbin, though, just days ago, used the exact term in a meeting at the White House where he sat next to Trump to negotiate the terms of an immigration deal.

Durbin said during the White House meeting:

You said at the outset that we need to phase this. I think the first phase is what Chuck and Steny and I have mentioned, and others as well: We have a deadline looming and a lot of lives hanging. We can agree on some very fundamental and important things together on border security, on chain, on the future of diversity visas. Comprehensive, though, I worked on it for six months with Michael Bennet, and a number of — Bob Menendez, and Schumer, and McCain, and Jeff Flake — and it took us six months to put it together. We don’t have six months for the DACA bill. [Emphasis added]

Chain migration accurately describes the process by which one newly arrived immigrant to the U.S. has been able to create a never-ending chain of immigration, as foreign relatives sponsor one another to come to the country in a number of relative visa categories.

According to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data, about 9.3 million foreign nationals have come to the U.S. as chain migrants between 2005 and 2016. In that same time period, a total of 13.06 million foreign nationals have entered the U.S. through the legal immigration system, as every seven out of ten new arrivals come to the country for nothing other than family reunification.

This makes chain migration the largest driver of immigration to the U.S. — making up more than 70 percent — with every two new immigrants bringing seven foreign relatives with them.

As Breitbart News reported, five years of chain migration to the U.S. adds more people to the country than one year of American births.

The number of extended-family foreign nationals who have resettled in the U.S. in the last decade is greater than the total combined population of Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco and Cleveland, the White House has noted in a new ad campaign that seeks to explain and end chain migration.

A decade of immigration to the United States where new immigrants can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives with them has exceeded two years of all American births.

Trump has repeatedly called for ending chain migration and replacing it with a legal immigration system that brings immigrants to the U.S. in lower levels and based on their merit, English proficiency skills, and ability to readily assimilate to American culture.

Who's is most Hated- Durbin (Chain Man)/ Schumer (Cry Baby)/ Pelosi (Idiot) ?

Hypocrisy is an essential trait for a US politician. You can’t be elected unless and until you have mastered the essentials. Those who excel at it, to become exceptionally proficient and skilled, can become Senators. It’s as much a part of the requirement as being a citizen over 30.

Like other traits of personality, some people rise to the very top with enthusiasm, constant practice, natural talent and ambition. Some can combine their talent for hypocrisy with opzing sanctimony and reach the very pinnacle of human performance. Ego certainly influences these performances, but that too is a common characteristic for a Senator.

It is hard to rank the US Senators on these matters. Competition is fierce, and we have yet to work out meaningful measures for degrees of difficulty in scoring.

It is a bit like arguing who is the greatest shortstop now or of all time, or the greatest quarterback, the finest guitarist, etc.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Where’s the surprise here? Democrats and leftists have no guiding principles other than the relentless pursuit of power and control. Thus they are free to say and maybe even believe that which is politically expedient for that particular moment. And the media, being Democrats and leftists themselves will never call them out since they’re on the same team.

If I was the senior Senator from a state as bankrupt and corrupt as the state he represents and works for (IL.) And was one of those responsible for this disintegration, and was responsible in a large way for the Obama failed presidency, with his importation of Chicago style politics on the nation, I would just sit in a dark corner and STFU!

I read both in Jr High. Maybe I should thank my teachers. Either Orwell has been outlawed in CA education, or is required reading to present Orwell as an evil white supremist.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) on Sunday reiterated that he didn’t hear President Trump call Haiti, El Salvador and African nations “shithole countries,” suggesting Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) misrepresented the president’s comments.

"I certainly didn’t hear what Sen. Durbin has said repeatedly. Sen. Durbin has a history of misrepresenting what happens in White House meetings, though, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by that,” Cotton said on CBS's “Face The Nation.” [Emphasis added]

Pressed on whether he didn’t hear the comment or if it wasn’t said, Cotton said, “I didn’t hear it.”

“And I was sitting no farther away from Donald Trump than Dick Durbin was, and I know what Dick Durbin has said about the president's repeated statements is incorrect,” Cotton added.
Trump during a meeting with lawmakers last week reportedly questioned why the U.S. accepted so many immigrants from “shithole countries” like Haiti, El Salvador and some African countries. He suggested the U.S. should instead should take in more immigrants from countries like Norway.

Cotton, Durbin, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) were among those present during the meeting.

Cotton and Perdue have said they did not hear the comment.

Durbin confirmed Trump’s comments, then reiterated that claim even after the president denied making them.

“He said those hateful things, and he said them repeatedly,” Durbin said.

Graham has neither confirmed nor denied hearing the comments, but reportedly told Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) the reports are “basically accurate.”

Cotton claimed Sunday that Durbin and Graham proposed expanding the existing immigration legislation to create more quotas for certain countries, and Trump reacted with “pretty tough language,” a phrase Trump used when denying he made the vulgar remarks.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who appeared on "Face The Nation" after Cotton on Sunday, criticized the suggestion that Durbin misrepresented the comments.

“Someone saying that Sen. Durbin or Sen. Graham is going to make something up that the president of the United States has said, and thinking they would do that to gin up people one way or another, that’s wrong," Manchin said.

Dick Durbin is a jerk

Once again, the loathsome Senator Dick Durbin has besmirched himself by running to the anti-Trump media to proclaim that Trump used a bad word!

In a private meeting, Trump asked why we're importing immigrants from countries without any sense of Western civilization or values who have no intention to assimilate. Good question. But because he allegedly used a bad word, justifiably and correctly, if true, he is now, again, branded a racist.

Dick Durbin gets away with the murder of facts. He is a well known liar. He's lied before about private government meetings. Jack Hellner lists many of his crimes against the American people here.

Durbin lied incessantly about Obamacare, as did all the Democrats, and he lies now about immigration. He is on record opposing chain migration in 2010. Now whoever opposes it is racist.

Mark Levin has on occasion revealed that the late Sen. Fred Thompson once told him that Durbin was the most disingenuous member of Congress, that he could not be trusted. Seems true now that Durbin speaks as though the nation cannot survive without an influx of Africans, Haitians, and persons from any other country who want to come to America. Who would not want to come here?

Did Trump use an unacceptable word when discussing immigration in a private meeting? So what? Was he correct to ask the question? Of course he was.

The Immigration and Nationalization Act of 1965 was Ted Kennedy's baby. Enacted in 1968, it ended the National Origins Formula that had been the law of the land since 1921. Kennedy promised that it would not alter the demographic make-up of America. "The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission."

Then, in 1986, the Immigration Reform and Control Act was passed – the Simpson-Mazzoli Act. Simpson promised Reagan that the bill would insure "control of our borders." The joke was on the rest of us. The three million people who got amnesty became eleven million people within ten years. Those who had been trying to enter the country legally gave up and claimed to be illegal; it was easier to stay, claiming amnesty.

Ted Kennedy on the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli bill: "This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this." The borders were never secured. Our cities have been flooded with immigrants who have upset the ethnic mix of American society. And now the Democrats want another amnesty for 11-20 million illegal aliens.

Every letter of that law has been abrogated since it was passed, most willfully during the Obama administration. Obama encouraged parents in Central America to send their children here unaccompanied! And they came, by the tens of thousands.

The left wants and needs its underclass – who else will continue to vote for them but those who are dependent upon them? Chain migration resulted in the continued influx of non-English-speaking persons, uneducated and without skills beyond straining welfare benefit programs. This mass migration to America has continued unabated since 1965. The Immigration Act of 1990, the ridiculous "diversity lottery," is a joke upon a travesty.

Fast-forward to the present, and we have the ever odious Dick Durbin, the liar of the Senate, defending illegal immigration from anywhere and everywhere without vetting, the threat of terrorism be damned. "We are a welcoming and diverse nation! We do not discriminate." Durbin and his cohorts in the Democratic Party without question value the DACA people – illegal aliens like the man who murdered Kate Steinle – over and above American citizens. They care not a whit about the thousands of Americans who have been killed by illegal immigrants, by their drugs, their drunk driving, their gang activities. They do not care how many unemployed Americans do not have jobs because the jobs are taken by illegal aliens. They do not. No matter how many people are murdered or maimed by this criminal element imported from all over the world, the likes of Durbin will defend the alien, not the citizen or the citizen's grieving family. He is the Fernand Mondego, the scoundrel of Dumas's Count of Monte Cristo, of Congress.

Dick Durbin will lie, cheat, and betray any friend or stranger for his own aggrandizement and the furtherance of the progressive agenda. Like Obama, Durbin and his ilk want to fundamentally transform our country from what it was meant to be to something only Saul Alinsky and George Soros could love.
