US Gymnastics Dr. Larry Nasser was sentenced to 60 years after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography. He has also pleaded guilty to multiple sexual assault charges filed against him by some of the most prominent figures in USA Gymnastics for a total of 13 counts to date with more pending.

Victims have filed a suit against Michigan State University, USA Gymnastics, and the US Olympic committee for attempting to shame/silence them and cover up the situation or at least limit their exposure.

This is a case where it is truly a shame that it is not a capital crime. I'm guessing this little weasel is going to have a rough time for the rest of his life, depending on how long that is.

There's gotta be more in on this little fun.

I'm certainly no fan of short-eyes, but murderers get less than 60 years.

My opinion: child abuse is worse than murder.

Honestly, that seems a bit emotional. Abuse is terrible and can have lasting effects, but people can recover from abuse. Very few people recover from murder.

He didn’t get the 60 Years for sexual abuse. He hasn’t even been tried on that yet.

He got the 60 years for possession of child pornogrwphy. Reportedly more than a thousand images.

Sick fuck. I hope he gets ANOTHER 60 years for the abuse charges.

I believe that murderers with large numbers of victims (serial killers?) are relatively rare.

Pedophiles on the other hand, tend to have multiple victims.

Yes, it is a bit emotional. You don't have to answer this question, but please think about it: Do you personally know anybody who was sexually abused as a child?

Murderers don't just take their victim's life. The loss of a loved one to murder destroys dozens of lives. Mothers and fathers are forever left empty, brothers and sisters are left alone and lost, families are fractured, friends left crestfallen....I know from personal experience.

At least in my case the evil bastard got 70 years.

Except you have victims with baggages affecting other people as they go through life. Dead is dead. The dead don't wake up at night or go through the day unexpectedly having to live through the memory of their trauma again and again.

And I'm not arguing for lighter sentences for murderers either. I say they're on the same plane.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Well now I can add USA Gymnastics along with USA Swimming for olympic organizations on my list to thank for the mandatory background checks, SafeSport training and restrictive policies that I have to endure for my archery coaching credentials.

Don't get me wrong, there needs to be a code of conduct and background screening for those involved with youth athletes. However the interpretation of some of the standards has gone way too far. It's at the point now as a male coach I'm limited to a first bump as about the only physical contact that I'm allowed to have with a female archer at a tournament. There have actually been claims filed against coaches for hugging an athlete in celebration.

Most of the SafeSport initiatives we can thank USA Swimming for with their history of improper conduct. When it was first rolled out and made mandatory for USA Archery a few years ago we had a presentation made by rep from USA Swimming. In the meeting he states that they had almost no issues in archery and the shooting sorts and then asked why we thought that may be so. He was not amused by my answer that our athletes trained with potentially deadly weapons. He was less amused by another coach's response that archery and the shooting sports tended to lean more to the redneck side of the social spectrum than swimming and a lot of fathers had access to and the knowledge of how to operate a backhoe.

Is anyone really so dense that they can't figure that one out?

While it's easy to make one liners like myself and one other coach did, in reality it is more complicated. Please don't take my comments as blaming the athletes for improper behavior. One positive of going through the SafeSport training was the eye opener as to just how widespread and sickening some of the behavior of coaches and trainers has become.

For starters the physical fitness required for swimming and gymnastics is higher than that for archery and the shooting sports. You have young athletes that train hard and are in top physical shape making them very attractive.

Then there's the outfits of tight fitting gymnastic gear and swimsuits. Quite the opposite in archery, we have a ever more oppressive dress code against "provocative" clothing. The latest from last year was making yoga pants, leggings, jeggings and other tight fitting pants illegal. I didn't even know what jeggings were until last year. There have been length requirements for skirts and shorts for quite some time. We often joke that SafeSport has turned all judges into sexual predators by making us the fashion police and having to look at the butts of young athletes to determine dress code violations.

There's also quite a few social distinctions as well. Archery and the shooting sports tend to be more individual sports. While there is a team and some team events, the teams are much smaller than a swimming or gymnastics team and they don't tend to acquire a pack mentality. The pack mentality at times forces conformance and improper acts go unreported for fear of reprisal by the pack. Archery and shooting sports have a strong correlation to hunting as well which instills a sense of self reliance and individualism.

There's also a more social issues along with demographics that go into it. Dwelling further into it would be personal opinion on my part rather than anything I'm aware of that's been published.

DailyWire.com: Convicted Child Molester Larry Nassar Stabbed In Prison: Report

Former U.S. gymnastics doctor and convicted child molester Larry Nassar was reportedly stabbed multiple times Sunday night in a federal prison in Florida.

Sources told the Associated Press and ABC News that Nassar was in an altercation, and the extent of his injuries is unknown, but he is now in stable condition. Nassar, who treated some of the most well-known figures on the U.S. women’s Olympic gymnastic team, will spend the rest of his life in federal prison after more than 150 women and girls accused him of sexually abusing them over a period of 20 years.
