The firearm issued to former Dallas County Sheriff and Democratic candidate for Texas Governor, Lupe Valdez, can not be found. It isn't clear whether the pistol is missing due to some action on the part of Valdez or the Sheriff's Department. It doesn't appear Valdez or her campaign is helping clear matters up quickly......the editorial linked to below, picks up the possible hypocrisy angle.

I’d bet a cup of coffee that she simply kept it because she was entitled to do so. Either the gun will be miraculously found, or it’s at the bottom of a river or lake because it’s just “missing” and not at all her fault.

AFAIC, she had 3 disqualifying characteristics for the job. I won't list them because I'd probably raise some hackles.
