Can anyone recommend a decent Calendar app for iPhone?

I used to use Sunrise, which was freaking awesome, but then Microsoft bought it and killed it for some reason, I guess it was competing too much with their calendar?

Since then I've tried: Fantastical, Google Calendar and the stock Apple Calendar and don't really care for any of them. None of them do what Sunrise used to do easily.

I liked how Sunrise was sort of a hybrid reminder AND calendar app and it worked really well, not finding that any of the ones I'm trying do this very well.

Any new ones out there that I should be looking at?

Thanks!

I don't know how long ago you tried Google calendar but Google calendar has reminders now. You can set reminders and when they're not done, they automatically over to the next day.

Is that all you're missing - reminders?

I do keep the iPhone calendar next to the Google app because the iPhone calendar shows the date and day on the face of the app icon. That's the only shortfall I have with Google calendar. Other than that, I think it works very well and is integrated into other Google apps.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." So for those of us who really aren’t familiar with your old app, what is it want the new app to do that the native calendar app in iOS doesn’t do?

Apple does have a Reminders app. I just tried it, and the reminder doesn’t show up on the Calendar app. I use the Apple Calendar app because it’s syncs with my 2 Macs, my iPad, and my wife’s iPhone.

You’re not getting reminders? Go to Setting -> Notifications -> Calendar and make sure Notifications are turned on. You can choose how you want to receive them there. You have to choose to alert yourself when the event is created. I get them for all of my events.

Check out Week Calendar (developer WeekCal B.V.). Versatile, can link multiple calendar accounts, easy to color code, can build reminders (preset or custom ones), can alert you by time or when to leave, can add icons to events, build templates, all sorts of stuff. My favorite calendar app. Highly recommended.

Thanks! Checking this one out now and it reminds me a lot of Sunrise.

BusyCal, for iPhone and Mac (licensed separately, and not especially cheap version for the desktop @ $50, but only $5 for the iOS version). It syncs over iCloud. The best calendar I've ever used. It will create events via verbal dictation, if you want (I don't). I use the main (desktop) copy for entering all my appointments and events, and then consult the iPhone when I'm, (for example) in a Doctor's office making a new appointment. I have a Mission Control desktop space dedicated to just BusyCal, makes it nice and big and easy to work with.
