I took my wife and 5 year old on a rafting trip recently. On the bus ride to launch, one of the guides gives the typical safety lecture.

He was saying if you get tossed from the boat, the guide will want to make sure your are OK. He'll give a hand signal - you return the hand signal if you are OK.

He then says he need to qualify what 'OK' means, for the millennials on the trip.

You are still OK if:

You are not having a good time
You are cold
You want to go home
You do not like your guide

This was all in jest, and funny, but sadly there is some truth to it.

IOW, if you don't require medical attention, you're okay and just STFU. Smile

Can't imagine what they went through to even have to raise this, even in jest.

But what if you get water up your nose. That can be really uncomfortable

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People again must learn to work, instead of living on public assistance. ~ Cicero 55 BC

Like, I want a refund for you tossing me out of the boat. That is unacceptable.

Which company was this? I rafted out of Estes Park with Rapid Transit last summer and had a blast. They gave a similar speech.

Man, life as a kid was tough.

No matter what happened, if someone wasn't shoveling dirt on you and saying Kaddish, you were "OK".

Plus, you could get infected with a brain eating amoeba.

(Cue 5 or 6 different types of jokes about millennials and brain eating amoebas.)

As the father of six kids, I always said if you're not bleeding, you're fine.
No blood, no foul.
My wife has always agreed with this, and sometimes thought I was a little soft when our kids were young. Of course, she is the sixth out of eight. 5 brothers and 2 sisters (and a couple of her brothers are still scared of her!!).
