Heard this as a part of a sermon in a small, all black church outside Charleston, S.C. last year. As a teacher I thought it to be profound.

Often it isn’t so important to have the right answer, it’s important to ask the right question

Reading over the posts made me think of something my grandpa used to say back in the late 1950s (I have said the same thing to my two daughters time after time)...

"It don't cost anything to lock a door"

"we've gotta roll with the punches, learn to play all of our hunches
Making the best of what ever comes our way
Forget that blind ambition and learn to trust your intuition
Plowing straight ahead come what may
And theres a cowboy in the jungle"

My truths:
1) Never drink your own koolaid
2) Be polite, it costs you nothing
3) Live life your own way
4) Be extraordinary, always be the "man in the arena"
5) Breathe

Addendum: Live simply: don't buy things, buy experiences.

Happiness is a choice.

Got this in a fortune cookie YEARS ago:
“He who rows the boat has the least time to rock it.”

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

If you do right, you never have to fear karma.

No good deed goes unpunished.
