I almost forgot this date. The news is very quiet on the subject. FDR, the great liberal icon, signed Executive Order 9066 and rounded up the Japanese Americans on the west coast and put them in internment camps. During the war, 10 people in the US were caught spying for the Japanese. None of them were Japanese. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible. | ||

Not nearly as many Germans/Italians were jailed as Americans of Japanese descent were. The incarceration of THOUSANDS of American citizens without due cause was a national DISGRACE. On December 7th, Japanese residents of Niihau helped a downed pilot from the Pearl Harbor attack. This may have put Japanese in the US mainland under some suspicion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niihau_incident The incident and the actions of Nishikaichi's abettors demonstrated the potential for racial or ethnic allegiance to overwhelm national allegiance. This ultimately may have influenced Franklin D. Roosevelt's decision to intern Japanese Americans during World War II. Ben Kanahele was decorated for his part in stopping the takeover, but Ella Kanahele received no official recognition. | |||

Perhaps it was, but it was during a WAR. And I'm not a fan of FDR. Congress also got into the business of jailing suspects without due process with the McCarran Act.... Again during a time of War.
