Now in the case of someone being gravely injured/killed, then throw that stuff out the window. Best course of action until then is to call law enforcement asap and try to diffuse. Good on the ones that did step in.

I think these fucktards were standing around because they enjoyed seeing whitey get a beat down, a few of their homies getting some reparations, not because they were afraid of getting injured or for liability reasons.

I'll say that guard needs a raise. That was pretty good how he continued to fight back considering he was outnumbered and/or outsized.

I wonder if it was just sleeping that was going on. A lot of places seem to allow that sort of thing. I have even seen instances of people passed out at the tables. I am guessing some illegal activity was going on beyond just sleeping. Who knows?

Would have been nice to have a stout walking stick or a shilelagh to rule the day.

In the comments on youtube someone posted an account of the story that claims the thugs were sitting there drinking beer they had brought in, and that they hadn't ordered any food. The guard asked them to leave.

Thanks that explains more of the behavior and the response.

Homeless were a real problem in Calgary where they could beg for a $1 then buy a coffee and hang in a warm McDonald's (specifically the one on stephen ave in downtown where the paddy wagon showed up 2 of 3 times I went there) until kicked out.

I imagine warm locales have the same issue with the homeless coming in for the air conditioning.

Some McDonald's employees know how to deal with this type of problem the proper way. (Language Warning).

They did not know that McDonald's employs felons. The employee had previously served ten years in prison for murder. That was happens when you jump the counter at certain select McDonald's.

This tape is probably not a part Corporate McDonald's training videos.

I'm torn. On the one hand I'd feel compelled to help the guy. I'm not going to watch someone get killed.

But on the other hand - I am pretty sure they should have just called the cops and got them arrested for trespassing.

The guard attempted to be physical and they called his bluff. One guy of medium size is not going to handle two resisting decent-sized assailants. Real life is not the movies... in any case - he looked like he had no training beyond having an ASP some pepper spray and a piece of tin badge.

And training would have helped because the vagrants were slow and unskilled themselves.

What a mess.

Were I that guard, I would have had at least an ASP, and one of those 400 gazillion volt stun guns. The ones with the two prongs that you stick into said bad guy and let him ride the lightning.

Putting one of them down, laying there twitching and jerking would sure give the rest of them some points to ponder.

Would I step in? Most likely, with a chair to the head of the closest asshole, followed by the same treatment to the next one, repeat as necessary.

It doesn't seem like he had any training. Even a few rudimentary judo throws or Hapkido wrist locks could've stopped those problems quickly.
