The U.S. unemployment rate has gotten so low, that most Americans were not alive the last time it was at this level.

On Friday, the Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate dipped to 3.6% in April, which was the lowest level since December 1969.

That means anybody younger than 49 years and four months hasn't been alive long enough to see the unemployment rate this low.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of 2017, the median age of all Americans was 38.1, meaning that half of the population was younger than that age.

Anyone remember?

And oh yeah, the tariffs are going to ruin our economy, I 'member that as well.

Trump says he will declassify 'everything' about warrants Obama used to spy on his campaign…

“President Donald Trump claimed on Thursday that it's likely former FBI Director James Comey led an effort to spy on his campaign in 2016.

And he told a Fox News Channel interviewer that he intends to declassify documents related to controversial surveillance warrants 'pretty soon.'

White House officials have vented both publicly and privately for more than a year about warrants the Obama Justice Department obtained from a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court to monitor Carter Page, then a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser.

The president signaled Friday morning that a reckoning was near…”

On 19 April 2019, WH lawyer Emmet Flood sent AG Barr a letter about the Mueller report.

link:

https://www.foxnews.com/politi...rr-on-mueller-report

A really good letter. Well worth a read.

from the letter:

The SCO Report suffers from an extraordinary legal defect: It quite deliberately fails to comply with the requirements of governing law.

"conclusively determining that no criminal conduct occurred" was not the SCO's assigned task

It is never the task of the federal prosecutor

In the American justice system, innocence is presumed; there is never any need for prosecutors to "conclusively determine" it

Sdy—-as always, an extremely important and enlightening post.
Looks like all the pieces are in place for the next game in this tournament.
This time the President is playing “white”.
No, you know what I mean.

Booming economy under Trump means he could win by landslide in 2020

Paul Krugman: ‘It really does now look like President Donald J. Trump,’ Krugman wrote in a blog for the NYT posted at 12.42am, ‘and markets are plunging. When might we expect them to recover? Frankly, I find it hard to care much, even though this is my speciality. The disaster for America and the world has so many aspects that the economic ramifications are way down my list of things to fear. Still, I guess people want an answer: If the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never.’

Poor Krugman, whose sneering loathing for Trump knows no bounds, was almost inconsolable as he predicted financial Armageddon
……
As predictions go, these are now all right up there with the ones confidently insisting Special Counsel Robert Mueller would find Trump guilty of Russian collusion.

Because none of them actually transpired.
Indeed, the complete opposite has happened.

After two-and-a-half years of President Trump, the US economy is in fact powering away and smashing records as it surges.

Today, it was revealed that 263,000 new jobs were added in April, massively higher than what was forecast.

Unemployment fell to 3.6%, the lowest number since 1969 …

Does anyone know what happened to the fudged numbers? Remember how all kinds of people were saying that if you look at the U6 as well as labor participation, or some such, that it would give a better picture as to Unemployment under Obama, because they were fudging the numbers..?

At one point I had even read that if we didn't fix Obama's fudged numbers, when the jobs came back we would end up at negative unemployment because of how off they were.

Slick Willy’s wife doesn’t have to go crawl in a hole and die (though that would be nice), but she does need to go away. Never seeing an image of that vile skank nor hearing another screech emitted from that shrew’s lie-hole would be a very welcome blessing.

The numbers are fudged, or at least the way it is calculated is not what most of of would think as a true unemployment representation. In this case, since the way it is calculated has remained unchanged, it is a direct comparison to rates under Obama. But I would like to see a more accurate method.

Heck, if you are going to go to the trouble, go all out. Show the rate using some old calculation and the “Oblunder calculation” for this point in President Trump’s term, this point in Oblunder’s first term, and this point in Obluder’s second term. Wink

About 7 years ago I did a contract for Dept of Labor to develop a new statistics gathering system. About half of the unemployment numbers are obtained by polling businesses on hiring and firing. The rest of the numbers get very sketchy because states don't always report on time. Easy as hell to fudge numbers in a big time down economy. Just poll businesses that are known to be hiring (Hard to find under Obama but they could be found). The reported numbers were anemic at best but they didn't look catastrophic (which they were). It's very hard to fudge the numbers when ANY business you poll can't find enough qualified candidates. President Trumps numbers seem very real to me.

FYI, IT unemployment rate in my area is negative. Very impressive and thank you President Trump.

The Trump administration finalized a rule Thursday scrapping a 2014 Medicaid regulation allowing states to divert payments meant for caretakers to unions.

The Obama administration issued a regulation that protected a state practice that had, by that time, been practiced for decades. Since the 1990s, states have accepted Medicaid money from the federal government meant for home health service providers, often the family or friends of the Medicaid-assistance recipient, according to the conservative think tank Freedom Foundation.

In distributing checks to the health providers, some states had begun skimming money and diverting it to unions and other interest groups in the form of dues, even though home health providers may not be members. The Center for Medicaid Services will begin cracking down on the process in July.

“Repealing this illegal regulation is a major victory for caregivers and those who care about protecting Medicaid from being looted by special interests,” Maxford Nelsen, director of labor policy for the Freedom Foundation, said in a statement. “States have no business, legally or morally, diverting Medicaid funds to unions.”

“Caregivers deserve to be able to choose how to spend their wages after they’ve been paid in full for their services. If they wish to support a union, that’s up to them,” Nelsen said.

The new regulation will prevent states from skimming up to $150 million per year from Medicaid payments and diverting it to other causes. The Freedom Foundation found that in 2018 eight states – California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, Vermont and Washington – were skimming money off Medicaid payments to caretakers.

Unions slammed the Trump administration over the new rule. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), one of the largest public-sector unions in the U.S., said the new policy was “anti-worker.”

The final rule attacks “roughly 800,000 home care workers’ ability to use common paycheck deductions for health insurance contributions, union dues, and other expenses,” the SEIU said in a statement. “The rule wrongly targets independent provider home care workers who, without a union, are faced with a physically and emotionally demanding job with a median wage of just $10.49 an hour, no healthcare, no paid sick time and no benefits.”

Rush Limbaugh on the Emmet Flood letter posted on p79.

https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/d...w-everyone-knows-it/

Rush is a bit long winded and repetitive, but he understands the significance of the ltr from WH lawyer Flood.

The letter emphasizes the Trump team was open w Mueller and didn't hold anything back. No executive privilege. Then Mueller back stabbed Trump by dumping 200 pages of negative sounding testimony about obstruction, and then not making a call. Feeding the DEM impeachment fire. That is what Mueller did.

Rush also thinks the President is ready to go on offense. Let's all hope so. Next couple months could be pretty wild.

Nice... Federal dollars diverted to Unions. Unions typically support Democrats. Democrats supporting themselves with Taxpayer money through unions using a neat little loophole they created. Just awesome.....

Trump is sometimes accused of being a suck up to the Russians. You can make an argument that he has been one of the most anti-Russian Presidents in a long time. After all, the US military killed over 200 Russians in Syria under his watch. Yes they were mercenaries, but they might as well have been Russian Military. Direct combat between Russian and US military had never happened since WW2 until that incident. We have done all kinds of sanctions, closed a Russian consulate on the west coast etc. HOWEVER, it's ridiculous for him to talk to Putin, then say to the press "Putin says he isn't interfering in Venezuela" like he believes him. Nonsense.

Exclusive – Marsha Blackburn: Even the Media Can’t Ignore Historic Job Numbers

They just can’t help themselves. The liberal media does it every single day. They are drawn like moths to the flame for the D.C. story of the day. This week they were enamored with the House Democrats’ antics and their latest stunt. Republicans, with President Donald J. Trump’s leadership, remain focused on what the American people elected us to do. But even the media could not ignore the historic nature of the April jobs numbers released by the Labor Department on Friday.

The top level numbers are impressive on their own. The United States economy added 263,000 jobs last month, considerably more than the 180,000 economists expected.

To consider the real value of these statistics, we must remember that in each one of those 263,000 jobs is now a teenager saving for college, a single mom working to make ends meet, an anxious parent striving to provide for their children, and a deserving veteran joining the civilian workforce after serving our country.

The unemployment rate dropped down to 3.6 percent. That’s the lowest unemployment rate since December 1969, when I was a high school student working in a dress shop on weekends. Peter, Paul, and Mary; Steam; Diana Ross and The Supremes were at the top of the Billboard Charts. A Boy Named Charlie Brown first hit theaters, and we had just landed on the moon for the first time.

If you want a job, you can find a job, especially in Tennessee where we beat the national averages.

When we dig deeper, we see a number of other positive statistics. The unemployment rate for adult women — defined as women over 20 years old — fell to just 3.1 percent. That’s the lowest rate since 1953. Women are benefiting every day by the Trump economy. There is more money in their pockets every month. Also impressive, the jobless rate for our veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan hit the lowest level since 2006 — just 1.7 percent.

During the first quarter of 2019, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased to 3.2 percent, which also exceeded expectations. Productivity also saw its largest gain in five years.

To top it off, we are just months away from the longest economic expansion in history. Even The New York Times had to admit, “the labor market the United States is experiencing right now wasn’t supposed to be possible.” The same New York Times article states: “tax cuts and deregulation are most likely part of the reason for the strong growth rates in 2018 and the beginning of 2019.”

President Trump is keeping his promise to the American people, and he is delivering real results that cannot be ignored. As a businessman himself, the president understands something too many in government ignore: the government does not — and should not — create jobs. Instead, it should be the government’s role to create an environment that allows small business owners to do what they do best — innovate and create new jobs.

Our emphasis implementing pro-growth policies has helped the United States economy thrive and has prompted historically low unemployment rates. Now is not the time to take our foot off the gas.

Socialist plans like the Green New Deal and Medicare for All will not keep the economy growing; but maintaining the Republican majority in the Senate, taking back the House, and keeping President Trump in the White House for four more years will.

While Democrats in Washington continue to look for every opportunity to expand an already too big government, we’ll remain focused on what matters: producing results for the American people. The choice is yours: Do you choose freedom or do you allow socialism to grow?
