AG Barr: If a proceeding was not well founded, based on false allegations, the president does not have to sit there and allow it to run its course

Where AG Barr is saying that "obstruction" can't be claimed when the president can act and defend himself

“WASHINGTON (AP) — Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has made it official: The administration won’t be turning President Donald Trump’s tax returns over to the Democratic-controlled House.

Mnuchin told Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass., in a Monday letter that the panel’s request “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose” as Supreme Court precedent requires.

In making that determination, Mnuchin said he relied on the advice of the Justice Department. He concluded that the Treasury Department is “not authorized to disclose the requested returns and return information.” He said the Justice Department will provide a more detailed legal justification soon…”

Desperation. Pure desperation. They know they don't have a single viable candidate to take him on next year. I say let them keep up the craziness, it only helps Trump look more and more like the reasonable, Presidential one and them like wild-eyed fools.

Wray is useless.

FBI chief: No evidence of illegal spying on Trump campaign

“FBI Director Chris Wray said Tuesday that he does not consider court-approved FBI surveillance to be 'spying' and said he has no evidence the FBI illegally monitored President Donald Trump's campaign during the 2016 election…”

What the hell? Why is he even saying anything before the investigations into the origins of this are over?

So; the allegations that the FBI in cahoots with the DNC, Fusion GPS, other intel organizations and foreign intel assets possibly manufactured "evidence" of Trump-Russia collusion and used these lies to fraudulently obtain FISA warrants while sending informants into the Trump campaign isn't potentially "spying" or at all troubling to him?

To be as fair as possible absent a full investigation I used the words "allegedly" and "possibly" but any way you slice it, this is extremely troubling behavior from the FBI and that is without even going into the Strozk/Page texts.

Time to fire another FBI director, but this dude ain't investigating jack so how can this one be obstruction?

Well, it is nice of him to publicly declare himself part of the deep state conspiracy. Also, I think that he will soon be looking to "spend more time with his family."

An honest FBI Director would be hopping mad that his agency had engaged in the kinds of activities we have all witnessed in the last 2-3 years.

Wray doesn't seem too bothered by it. Roll Eyes

You could tell from the day Trump appointed him that he is a swamp creature to his very core. His whole mission is to protect the FBI.

Guys, this is all media spin. He didn't say spying didn't occur; he said that is not the word he would typically use. And it shouldn't be a surprise that the director of the FBI is trying to distance the bureau from the idea of spying since they are a domestic entity. And they way I interpreted his comment on evidence is that he personally doesn't have any evidence to that.

It's frustrating to see him playing word games, but that's what he is doing. Again, this is media hype and spin.

The real headline should be what he said about working with AG Barr to find out what happened and why, but of course the media wants to continue to concentrate on the word spying.

This crook needs to be prosecuted for his role in that whole swamp issue, and the internal criminal actions by multiple FBI employees!

I am still puzzled as to why no serious charges have been filed against a bunch of those knot heads.

The Hildebeast continues to go around saying, at every opportunity, that the 2016 election was "stolen from me." We don't expect better from her, or her partner in crime, but she is doing the nation incalculable harm in spreading this treacherous lie, which undermines the foundation of our republic: free and fair election. This is an especially poisonous message for the young.

These two grifters have been a blight on our country, a curse.

Someone needs to go to jail for leaking this Mad

President Trump claimed to have lost $1.17 billion from his real estate businesses on his federal income tax returns for the decade between 1985 and 1994, The New York Times reported Tuesday evening.

The newspaper said it had obtained printouts of Trump's IRS tax transcripts from a person " who had legal access to it, " without elaborating. The transcripts included figures from the future president's federal tax form.

The White House had no immediate comment on the report.

The Times added that it had compared Trump's information with those of other high-income earners and found that Trump "appears to have lost more money than nearly any other individual American taxpayer." Indeed, the newspaper reported that the losses were so substantial that in eight of the ten years in question, Trump was able to avoid paying income tax.

Trump's tax returns have been a subject of speculation since he declined to make them public during his successful 2016 presidential campaign, claiming he was under audit.

In October 2018, the Times reported that Trump received at least $413 million in today’s money from his father’s New York real estate business. That report claimed that Trump helped his father, Fred Trump, claim millions of dollars in improper tax deductions; undervalued his parents' real estate holdings in order to reduce his tax bill when he inherited them; and set up a phony corporation with his siblings in an effort to disguise millions of dollars in gifts from his mother and father.

The House Ways and Means Committee has asked the IRS to provide Trump's personal and business returns for 2013 through 2018. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Monday refused to do so, saying the panel's request "lacks a legitimate legislative purpose."

Mnuchin's move, which had been expected, is likely to set a legal battle into motion. The chief options available to Democrats are to subpoena the IRS for the returns or to file a lawsuit.

It was inevitable, and my only surprise is that it took so long.
