Well, hey - if holding the House of Representatives makes the Democrats powerful (and they all say that it does), then doesn't holding the State Senate automatically put Virginia Republicans in a prime position to run riot in the next elections?

Ralph Blackface Coonman Northam: Show me the money

Virginia GOP says Dems should donate money they got from Northam to national slavery museum

https://www.richmond.com/news/...b7-99a0a4a92f16.html

The Republican Party of Virginia says Democrats who have called on Gov. Ralph Northam to resign should donate political money he’s given to them to a national slavery museum or a charity chosen by former Gov. Doug Wilder, the nation’s first elected African-American governor.

A news release from the GOP called on the Democratic Party of Virginia, the state House and Senate Democratic caucuses, Rep. Jennifer Wexton, D-10th and state Senate Minority Leader Dick Saslaw, D-Fairfax, to donate the “tainted funds.”

Northam and his PACs – The Way Ahead and Stronger Together – have given more than $2 million to the Democratic Party of Virginia alone.

Wilder, who was elected in 1989, previously pushed for a national slavery museum but plans for it did not materialize.

“It is incredibly hypocritical to call for Governor Northam’s resignation while at the same time spend all of his donations,” state GOP Chairman Jack Wilson said in a statement.

Nearly all major Democratic elected officials in Virginia – including the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus and U.S. Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine – have called for Northam’s resignation following a scandal that started with a racist photo on Northam’s page in his 1984 medical school yearbook.

After saying he was in the photo and apologizing on Feb. 1, Northam said a day later that he was sure the photo was not him, and he now wants to lead the state in racial reconciliation. The photo showed one man in blackface and one man in a Ku Klux Klan outfit and led to Northam and Virginia being skewered on late-night comedy shows, including NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

In response to the GOP attack, the Democratic Party of Virginia donated $2,000 to the General Assembly’s Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Commission and called on Republicans to match it.

"This political stunt during a painful time for Virginians is pretty rich coming from the party that opposed restoration of rights and champions voter suppression.," DPVA spokesman Jake Rubenstein said by email.

"We don't need the party of Trump to tell us how to support the African-American community and promote African-American history in the commonwealth. We fight tirelessly to elect diverse candidates, push for further equality in Virginia, and promote Virginia's Civil Rights heroes,” he said. “What has the Republican Party of Virginia done other than support neo-confederates like Corey Stewart?”

Northam says he's restored voting rights of 10,000 former felons

https://thehill.com/homenews/s...irginians-previously

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) announced Tuesday that since he took office, voting rights have been restored to more than 10,000 residents previously convicted of felony charges.

The announcement comes as Northam has faced calls from prominent Democratic politicians in Virginia and elsewhere to resign after he admitted he wore blackface to a dance party during college.

“I believe in second chances and making our Commonwealth more open and accessible to all,” Northam said in a statement released by his office.

"Virginians who have repaid their debts should be able to return to society, get a good job, and participate in our democracy," he added.

According to the figures released by Northam's office, 10,992 Virginians have had their rights restored, including the right to serve on a jury and hold public office, since he took office last year.

"This is an important achievement that marks my administration’s unwavering commitment to fairness, rehabilitation, and restorative justice," Northam added in his statement.

The announcement comes as Northam and other top Virginia leaders have found themselves embroiled in scandal.

Northam has faced backlash in recent weeks for a photo that surfaced from his medical school yearbook depicting one man in blackface and another in Ku Klux Klan robes. Northam later said he believed he was not in the photo, but admitted at a press conference that he had worn blackface on another occasion.

Along with the governor, Virginia's attorney general admitted to wearing blackface during college. Meanwhile, the state's Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax (D) faces accusations of rape and sexual assault from two women.

Northam has vowed to remain in office and focus on issues of racial justice for the remainder of his term.

Fairfax Accuser Dr. Vanessa Tyson WILL Meet With Boston Prosecutors

https://bigleaguepolitics.com/...-boston-prosecutors/

Dr. Vanessa Tyson, Stanford fellow and professor at Scripps College, is scheduling a meeting with Boston prosecutors with regard to her allegation of sexual assault against Virginia Democrat lieutenant governor Justin Fairfax at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Fairfax was serving as the “body man” for John Edwards on the John Kerry campaign at the time.

“I spoke with Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins this afternoon. Dr. Tyson will meet with members of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s staff and law enforcement to detail her allegations of sexual assault. We are working to schedule a meeting,” stated Tyson’s attorney Debra Katz.

Tyson has “months left” before the 15-year statute of limitations runs out on the case, according to reporter Steven Nelson.

Big League Politics first reported on Dr. Tyson’s accusation, and now a second accuser, Meredith Watson, alleges that Fairfax raped her during their time together at Duke University.

Trending: Finland’s Socialist Experiment Goes Off the Rails

Democrat congressman Bobby Scott of Virginia spoke with Dr. Tyson on text message about the allegation in 2017, but only days ago called for an immediate investigation into Fairfax’s conduct after second accuser Mz. Watson came forward.

Washington Post, the newspaper where ranking editors squashed the story of Dr. Vanessa Tyson’s sexual assault allegation against Justin Fairfax, is a big fan of Fairfax’s former Washington law firm WilmerHale. (RELATED: Free Speech Activists Gather At WilmerHale to Protest Pepe Meme Lawsuit Threats).

Fairfax worked at WilmerHale before becoming assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District.

Robert Mueller and his henchman Aaron Zebley went from the FBI to WilmerHale to the “Russia” special counsel investigation, which the Washington Post obviously adores, as evidenced by the headline “Mueller, several team members gave up million-dollar jobs to work on special counsel investigation.”

In fact, the Post even named WilmerHale its “#4 top workplace in DC” for 2018.

Meanwhile, second accuser Meredith Watson’s attorneys are clarifying facts about their client’s assertion that she was raped by Justin Fairfax at Duke University.

Fairfax allegedly cited Watson’s previous alleged rape by a Duke basketball player as the impetus for his alleged rape of Watson at a college party — because he figured she would stay quiet.

Here is what Watson’s attorney Nancy Erika Smith stated.

“We have heard from numerous press sources that in response to Meredith Watson revealing that Justin Fairfax raped her when she was a student at Duke, Mr. Fairfax has chosen to attack his victim again, now smearing her with the typical “she’s nuts” defense. He revealed that Ms. Watson was the victim of a prior rape. That is true. Ms. Watson was raped by a basketball player during her sophomore year at Duke. She went to the Dean, who provided no help and discouraged her from pursuing the claim further,” Smith stated.

“Ms. Watson also told friends, including Justin Fairfax. Mr. Fairfax then used this prior assault against Ms. Watson, as he explained to her during the only encounter she had with him after the rape. She left a campus party when he arrived, and he followed her out. She turned and asked: “Why did you do it?” Mr. Fairfax answered: “I knew that because of what happened to you last year, you’d be too afraid to say anything.” Mr. Fairfax actually used the prior rape of his “friend” against her when he chose to rape her in a premeditated way. Like he is smearing Dr. Vanessa Tyson, Mr. Fairfax is now smearing Ms. Watson. That’s shameful. The smears on victims of sexual assault have to stop. Why would any woman come forward with information about a powerful man knowing that he and his supporters will stop at nothing to smear and discredit them? Women come forward to support one another and to stop the culture of rape that is even more pervasive than we acknowledge,” Smith stated.

Northam postpones Black History Month reception amid fallout
Posted on February 13, 2019

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s administration has postponed a reception to celebrate Black History Month as the governor continues to deal with the fallout from a racist yearbook photo.

Northam spokeswoman Ofirah Yheskel said the reception has been moved from Wednesday to later this month. She said the administration is thinking through better ways to honor Black History Month. Black leaders said Monday that they would stage a large protest outside the reception.

Northam has ignored calls to resign. A photo of a man in blackface standing next to someone in Ku Klux Klan robes surfaced in his 1984 medical school yearbook. He denies he’s in the photo, but admitted to wearing blackface in 1984.

Virginia Legislative Black Caucus Chairman Del. Lamont Bagby says it would be “poor timing” to have the reception now.

Yeah, he could do a minstrel show featuring Stephen Foster songs. The crescendo: moonwalking to exit the stage. I’d pay good money to witness that!

The next best thing is picturing it. You know Coonman saw himself moonwalking the day his wife stomped on the notion. He was smiling as he thought about it, in his mind he was already moonwalking. Big Grin

https://bigleaguepolitics.com/...ily-owned-42-slaves/

quote:

EXCLUSIVE: Ralph Northam’s Great-Grandfather was ‘Red Shirt’, Family Owned 42 Slaves

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

It’s all in the family for Democratic Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam, whom Big League Politics exposed as a blackface/KKK hood-wearing racist two weeks ago.

Northam’s roots can be traced back to his great grandfather, Captain J.E. Brownlee, also a Democrat, who fought against the Yankees in the Civil War. After the war, he was a stalwart member of the “Red Shirts,” a group of white supremacists – all Democrats – who made a name for themselves by intimidating freed slaves to stop them from voting.

“In the days of the sixties that tried men’s courage and called for self-sacrifice and devotion to their country, Capt. Brownlee was tried and found not wanting,” Brownlee’s obituary reads. “With his valiant company of ‘Red Shirts’ he was always at the front, and in the right place, and it may truthfully be said that he did as much to redeem his country from Radical rule and tyranny as any man in upper Carolina.”

Here is a snapshot of Northam’s ancestry, proving that he is indeed the great-grandson of Brownlee.

The Red Shirts are described thusly by Dave Neiwert, who contributes for the SPLC:

quote:

State Democrats organized parades and rallies in every county of South Carolina. Many of the participants were armed and mounted; all wore red. Mounted men gave an impression of greater numbers. When Wade Hampton and other Democrats spoke, the Red Shirts would respond enthusiastically, shouting the campaign slogan, “Hurrah for Hampton.” This created a massive spectacle that united and motivated those present.

Red Shirts sought to intimidate both white and black watchers into voting for the Democrats or even not at all. The Red Shirts and similar groups were especially active in those few states with an African-American majority. They broke up Republican meetings, disrupted their organizing, and intimidated black voters at the polls. Many freedmen stopped voting from fear, and others voted for Democrats under pressure. The Red Shirts did not hesitate to use violence, nor did the other private militia groups. In the Piedmont counties of Aiken, Edgefield, and Barnwell, freedmen who voted were driven from their homes and whipped, while some of their leaders were murdered. During the 1876 presidential election, Democrats in Edgefield and Laurens counties voted “early and often”, while freedmen were barred from the polls.

According to the 1860 census, John Brownlee, Northam’s great-great grandfather, owned 42 slaves. Among them, presumably, were later freed slaves whom Northam’s great-grandfather attempted to intimidate out of voting.

My normal reaction to this would b so-what, as I am inclined to, now. My mother's ancestors owned slaves and owned a cotton plantation in Laurens, SC. My mom's side were related, through marriage, to William Aiken, governor of South Carolina, and owned plenty of slaves. My mother's ancestors were destroyed financially by the war and had to migrate to Arkansas and became, essentially, share-croppers. Her family never recovered and remained dirt poor until her mother died in the 1980s. Justice, I suppose. I neither feel sorry for them, nor do I feel responsible for what they did. Through their destruction, I never benefited from their pe-war wealth. So when someone says "your family owned slaves," I say, "yes they did, and they were killed in war and had everything they owned taken from them and burned. " It is what it is. So, the "your family owned slaves" rings hollow to me.

But Big League Politics puts it rightly when they add...

quote:

BLP never wanted to shame anyone for immutable traits, like family lineage, or to disparage those who fought in the Civil War for what they believed was right. It is part of American history, and must not be forgotten. But the modern political left has made these rules. They must learn to play by them.

So, in that respect, I say to Ralph Josef Mengele Northam: suck it, you black-hating baby-butcher. If you can't believe you are an enemy of God, no man can deny that you are an enemy of decency.

Damn, just how far back do we have to go to find something that might help us in our insane drive to tear someone down? Civil war? Ended when? 1865? shit, that was only 200 years ago.

These morons will do anything, say anything about anyone they consider their enemies!

More proof of how petty our society has become. Sadly!

Damn, edited to add, one of my ancestors was hung as a horse thief some 150 years ago. When are the idiots running this country now coming after me? Will they revoke my 2A rights now?

If anyone has any doubts about whether or not late term abortion (or any abortion) should be abolished, all one has to do is Google "late-term abortion" to see photos of the butchery that takes place in the name of a "woman's right to choose." When I call it butchery, it's actually worse than butchery. One wouldn't treat dead vermin the way babies aborted by this method are treated. That's why pro-lifers that display sign with these images at abortion rallies are reviled by abortion supporters - because the horrid nature of their crimes are being revealed.

That these people, especially Planned Parenthood workers and those that support them, not only support his massacre, but absolutely, and unreservedly, revel in it is beyond imaginable. When I say I hate these people, I hate them with a seething hatred. I'm not talking about the poor young mother, who is blinded by some distress, who is duped by these murderers in allowing them to slaughter her pre-born child. She is to be pitied, and once repentant, she'll receive forgiveness. But these others, the murderers themselves, are not repentant. They know exactly what they are doing. And once they puncture the neck of a living child, clip his or her spinal column, then cut him or her into pieces, extract his or her part, throw his or her parts into the trash and sell the rest, they smile at themself in the mirror.

I hope the deepest depths of hell are reserved for these people.

Blackface-Wearing Virginia AG Lectures About ‘Values’ In Opposition to Border Wall

https://bigleaguepolitics.com/...tion-to-border-wall/

The Democrat Attorney General of Virginia, who copped to wearing blackface at a fraternity party in the 1980’s is now lecturing the Trump administration on “values” as his state joins a lawsuit over Trump’s national emergency declaration.

“Concocting a fake emergency to build a needless wall goes against the Constitution and the values America was built on,” said Mark Herring in a statement according to WUSA9.

“President Trump’s ill-advised plan could divert critical funds from actual national security priorities, including military construction projects at bases and facilities throughout Virginia,” the statement continued.

After Big League Politics exposed Gov. Ralph Northam as a racist and Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax as an alleged serial rapist, Herring decided to admit that he, too, had partaken in racist activities to get ahead of any potential negative press.

Now, he’s asserting some feigned moral authority and lecturing the 63 million plus Americans who voted for a border wall – most of whom have never worn blackface – about America’s “values.” What are those values exactly?

Further evidence that Herring is an obvious hypocrite is the fact that he called on Northam to resign over Northam’s blackface scandal, but backed off that position when Fairfax’s job was jeopardized.

Sixteen states are throwing a petulant hissy fit over President Donald J. Trump’s National Emergency declaration, which will use Department of Defense funds to build a wall on the southern border.

California is leading the suit (surprise!), and is joined by Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Virginia.

Look at the company Virginia keeps. They have fallen far.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Va. House Dems pass buck on hearing rape allegations against Lt. Gov. Fairfax

https://www.washingtontimes.co...aring-rape-allegati/

By S.A. Miller - The Washington Times - Tuesday, February 19, 2019

The Virginia House Democratic Caucus on Tuesday said rape allegations against Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax should be investigated “outside of the political arena,” signaling that they’ve taken impeachment off the table.

“The allegations they have made against Lt Gov Fairfax are criminal in nature and we are treating them with the seriousness they deserve,” the Democratic caucus said in a tweet.

“We believe that the law enforcement investigation should proceed unencumbered and outside of the political arena,” said the caucus. “As such, the House Democratic Caucus has called on Lt. Governor Fairfax to resign. We are willing to work in a bipartisan manner with members of the General Assembly on a path forward.”

Bucking resignation calls from throughout his Democratic Party since Vanessa Tyson and Meredith Watson came forward with separate rape allegations, Mr. Fairfax said the sex was consensual and vowed to clear his name.

Last week, House Democrats pulled back from an early move to hold impeachment hearings.

Nancy Erika Smith, a lawyer for Ms. Watson, bristled at the Democrats’ latest statement.

“Apparently, the Virginia House Democratic Caucus believes that courageous victims of rape need to be heard — just not by them,” she said. “Ms. Watson is counting on the General Assembly to do the right thing and hold hearings now. These nonstop efforts to duck their role is pure cowardice. Sympathy is welcome, but action is needed.”

Ms. Tyson, a California college professor, came forward two weeks ago to allege that Mr. Fairfax forced her to perform oral sex on him when they met as campaign aides at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.

A short time later, Ms. Watson, a single mother in Maryland, alleged that she suffered a similar attack by Mr. Fairfax when they were students at Duke University in 2000.

Last week, Ms. Tyson made plans to meet with Suffolk County District Attorney Satana Deberry, whose jurisdiction includes Boston.

Ms. Watson has been in contact with the district attorney in Durham, N.C., but it was unclear whether she will pursue a criminal investigation.

Wait, Hawaii. Think about that for a moment. A state with no boarders and hundreds if not thousands of miles of nothing but ocean surrounding them.
