If anyone knows a reputable estate attorney in the Fremont, CA area, please send me contact information. It appears I may soon become involved in an estate dispute in that area involving a significant amount of property, including a number of guns.

Thanks!

Free bump, I know one or two folks up near San Francisco I could ask. But it is California and there are a lot of lawyers there.

I'm sure I'll find one, the place is awash. I'd prefer a forum referral if possible. I'm not looking forward to dealing with this crap. Some of the guns involved are "grandfathered" under CA laws, some my friend owned as early as '63. I'll coordinate with a dealer in my locale as well, to see about getting them shipped out of CA as fast as possible.

Don Kilmer is one of the go to guys in CA gun issues and family law is his practice area. I am not a client but people I trust trust him.

Do you need an estate attorney or a litigator? My daughter is an attorney in NC. At least in her firm, the litigators handle the matter when there are disputes about property splits. The estate attorney's in their office draw up the wills, trust and similar documents - generally well before the disputes come up.

Make sure the individual/firm you're dealing with has the right skills and preferably a firm that has specialists in estate and litigation.

Sorry you have to go through this....

We are going through that now....(hopefully ending this month) We are settling my MIL's estate which is worth a bit (but no guns).

Our Trust attorney is excellent out of San Jose

Some estate lawyers will handle contested matters and some don't. I wouldn't hire a general civil litigator. The OP needs an estate lawyer who handles contested matters.

Maybe Aetocles knows someone in your part of the state.
