This has been a good week, I'd say.

No hurricane, my new holster arrived, then my CTD order (today), and in the mail yesterday:

a letter from Suntrust. Oops, now what? The letter says that I now own my car . They washed their hands of it. I expected it, of course, but I had calculated December as the last payment.

So get your grubby mitts off my 2002 Hyundai Accent! The one with 101K on it. It took me 7 years, but it's mine. MINE. Big Grin

I plan to use my tax refund next year as a down payment on a new Accent. My mom wants this one--so we will be keeping it.

I plan to sell my stock next year and buy a scooter, too.

Nice having no car payment. That's $234 each month to be used to pay off credit cards. Then next year, I'll have a car payment again, and we'll start all over.

But at least I'll have two cars in the yard.

The letter says that the DMV has the title in their records, and I have to go down there if I want a paper copy. Does it matter? Should I get a paper title?

If you don't, I am not sure it will make 102K. Wink

Yes, go get your paper title and put it in a safety deposit box.

If your car gets totaled, the insurance company will not pay you until they gt the title so you won't go out and get a title loan before they take possession of the wreckage.

It will now start dying on you, a little bit at a time, inexorably draining your bank account as you attempt to fix the "death of a thousand small cuts".

Enjoy your car! Razz

Hey, that's happened to me more than once. Once it was fully paid off and mine, it knew.

That's why it won't be the only car.

C'mon, guys, I have put some thought into this, you know.

You know what I was thinking yesterday? I thought, "wow, it's paid for! Now watch Hurricane Fay drop a tree on it!"

It's been a really good car. Sure she needs rear struts, and rear brakes, but all cars end up needing that stuff sooner or later.

The power steering pump, tho, has been the real kicker. Never saw that coming. But it's covered.

Next week I'll go pester the DMV for a paper title--see how much ransom they want for it.

Years ago I bought a car and two or three days before the 30 day temporary tag expired the worst hailstorm in my life came through town, broke the left tail light, cracked the windshield and left many dents in the bodywork (the hailstones were the size of a mans fist). We use three letters followed by three numbers here in Kanzuz and when my tag showed up the three letters were F K D. I thought 'FKD, that pretty much sums it up."
