Message from Marty Daniel on the Fix NICS Act (S.2135)

Dear Friends,
I need your help. I believe the Fix NICS Act (S. 2135), sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA), is presently the only common sense approach to keeping firearms out of the hands of the wrong people. This bipartisan bill, which aims to keep firearms from being sold to criminals and other dangerous people, was introduced by U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas. All provisions of this bill have already been voted on and passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. While the bill has enough votes to pass the Senate, we must put pressure on our representatives until the President puts pen to paper.

Our Senators, by passing the Fix NICS Act, can take logical steps TODAY to improve background checks through the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). By doing so, states would not only be required to, but would be held accountable for not complying with new reporting procedures which would ensure background checks are complete and reliable. The Fix NICS Act would:

• Mandate federal agencies to report criminal convictions to the
Attorney General
• Require reporting of select mental health records that prohibit the
purchase of firearms (Fix NICS only seeks to require mental health
records that fit current federal categories)
• Hold states and federal agencies accountable for failing to upload
records

Here’s how you can help.
1.) Send an Email to Your Representatives at: http://bit.ly/2FFsmg0
2.) Share this Post & Tag Your Representatives in the Comments

Together, we can get this thing passed.

Ol' Marty is beginning to catch some serious flak for this.

Despite his videos where he, ( supposedly ) gets a little choked up when speaking about our nation's veterans, his repeated actions, ( the recent lay off of about half his company - many of whom were veterans and now his support for this bill, ) don't really mesh.

Only a fool would vote for any new gun law. Gun laws don't work any more than drug laws and drunk driving laws. Those kids in FL. Are playing right into the socialists and Commie hands. They don't know any better. It will be too late when they are eating bark off of trees and living in communes. Rant over.

I think some are just seeing legislation on firearms and thinking it is automatically bad.

This is legislation on the government, to enforce the laws that currently stand and are being ignored. As such, it serves a necessary purpose.

I am all for it, based on what I have read. The NRA is as well.

People need to calm down. The knee jerk reaction to this news is disappointing. I don't think people understand what's being talked about.

I’d vote for a common sense gun control bill. Of course the only common sense gun control bill that I can think of would be one which repealed one or more (preferably many more) of the gun control laws currently on the books.

I think one of the problems is most of us don't trust the government and think they will find a way to fuck this up.

Well, yeah!

The descriptions that I’ve seen of this bill really just tries to enforce what is already the common sense rule anyway. I do find it appalling that it requires a new law to get the government agencies to do their job.

Maybe it shouldn't require a new law, but this also lets the politicians who vote for it claim that they "did something."

It's also ironic that he's getting hammered for supporting a bill that the NRA supports. Where are the pitchfork carriers vowing to stop donating or tear up their NRA cards?

I am certain there are many in State and Federal positions of power who, if measured, should have records kept about them and, should not pass a NICS check. While we're making new laws or reinforcing old laws to strengthen the system, there definately needs to be some attention givin to the damage caused by the media in this country and the ills done by the contents of their broadcasts 24/7. There is pleanty of blame to be placed on them. That aint no sippin tea. They need to be clamped down on.

Right, we need a law to require the government to enforce existing laws. I don't know what this is all about, but if what you say is true, then it's just even more idiotic. The the whole notion of another bullshit feel good do nothing legislation. If they're not enforcing existing laws, you think another law requiring to enforce them is going to matter? Hey, if you're not going to enforce existing laws, we're going be very very mad. Whom are they trying to pull a fast one on? Roll Eyes

Message from Marty Daniel:

quote:
Friends,

First and foremost, let me say that I have heard your voices. I put out a statement on Friday, supporting Senate Bill S.2135 also known as the Fix NICS Act. I have received overwhelming feedback since putting out this statement, which has brought to my attention that there are significant and justified concerns regarding this bill. I can no longer in good conscience put my support behind S.2135.

I released the original statement because I believed it was the best option available at this time to hold back the continued attacks on the Second Amendment and the erosion of our rights. I was wrong.

Let me be very clear:

• My life’s work is to protect an individual’s right to keep and bear arms by holding our lawmakers accountable to the Second Amendment.

• I believe that all firearms laws that limit the rights of law abiding citizens are unconstitutional.

• I will never support any legislation which infringes on any individuals rights, and could potentially subvert due process.

• Myself, my Family, and Daniel Defense love and serve our Veterans every day. I would never support a legislative measure which would strip them of their rights based on their history of service and sacrifice.

Thank you to everyone who reached out and voiced your concerns. You are a motivated and passionate group of people which I am proud to call my peers, my friends, and my family. We are all united in one fight – the fight to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. I will never turn my back on you. I stand with you and I am ready to continue to fight for our rights.

-Marty

Yes he did, now the question is whether it was done after realizing the gravity of what he said or after his accounts receivable person predicted his future bottom line.
