He has other skills. IIRC he's a licensed EMT. At one point he was working on an ambulance in NYC (seriously.)

Pretty much exactly what I was going to post. He must owe a lot of money.

That was pretty sad, but to say he never was any good is wrong, in my opinion. I saw them in the early 80's and it was one of the best concerts I've seen. He should hang it up now, but back then that band was one of the best out there.

My guess is he's in a contract and wants out. He HAS to be trying to get fired. That was spectacularly bad.

A man could herniate himself like that. He should be more careful.

That is spot on.

He always had to show the athleticism of his voice in the Van Halen days, to the point he probably overdid it. Maybe he permanently trashed his vocal cords.

He may not have in ear monitors and be relying on house and stage monitors. Maybe he could hire a good sound coach. The rest of the band sounded on pitch.

Here is Roth in his Vegas hotel, dropping in on a bachelor party, and the dudes have no idea who he is.

I love the comment:

it was the best moment of their lives." Big Grin

I've often thought if I won one of those "hang out with a celebrity for a weekend" contests, I'd choose to hang out with Sammy. Cool

His Joe Rogan interview was one big bloviate.

To his credit, he's done a bunch of stuff away and unrelated to music: paramedic, big-wall climber, fluent in Spanish and some Japanese; problem is he'll tell you all about it without any prompting. That interview with Rogan was very exhausting. Dave was that kid in school, who wouldn't stop talking, had to give you his opinion on everything and got involved with every activity eventually becoming the center of attention due to his over-talking everyone.

DLR is also a devout martial arts afficianado and has a dōjō in his home.

He was never a good singer but he was persistent, obnoxiously so, and could work a crowd.
