I believe Taft was the last to have facial hair. But Benjamin Harrison was the last to have a full beard I believe. What did I win? What? Huh, huh!?!? Is it good? ARman

Correct. It was the Civil War that cause American men to go hairy. Until then beards were socially unacceptable. Muttonchops on John Quincy Adams and Van Buren not that's it until Lincoln. Joseph Palmer (1791-1873) was one of the very few men that wore a beard. He was subjected to harassment and name calling. In 1830 he was attacked by four men that tried to cut his beard off. He defended himself and then was arrested and convicted for "unprovoked assault." This lead to a 15 month stint in jail. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wik...ph_Palmer_(communard) https://www.thoughtco.com/no-b...-politicians-3367737 “ The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.
