Do I believe in Climate Change. Yes, the climate changes, it is bound to given the natural progression of the earth, its movement through the solar system, normal climate cycles, etc. Does the introduction of man made products or chemicals have an impact on the environment in some way, common sense says yes. However did they blame the weather and dustbowls during the depression on that new fangled automobooble and all of the coal furnaces across the country? The commonly referenced element that I wonder about is the 'carbon footprint' concept. Who came up with this? What is the science behind how eating at Taco Bell and farting somehow increases my carbon contribution? What's even more absurd than man made climate change is the idea that it could be reversed. How could anyone know what the perfect C02 levels should be and what the correct average temperature of the earth should be? What data do we have that suggests that the climate was exactly as it should be before the industrial age? If you don't know these answers you would never be able to know if the climate was ever healed and repaired. Ya, maybe even longer...something else has been in a state of constant change...Earth's population...Year 1 AD approximately 200 million, 1000 AD 275 million., 1804 AD 1 billion, 1900 1.6 billion, 2011 AD 7 billion. Most of the growth these days is in 3rd world countries and Asia. At what point does this population growth rate become unsustainable?...assuming it's not already. It's possible this population growth is a catalyst ramping up the natural climate change cycle of the planet. Now what to do? ______________________ Live free or die... Don't tread on me...
