Which would be gravity vs lift? Lift vs gravity is equal action with a equal reaction.
What your describing is a hybrid Bernoulli/Newton theory.

quote:
The Glenn Research Center Lift Theory teaches that the following is the largest contributor to lift.
The air below (blue) the airfoil is deflected downward. The deflection has a horizontal and a vertical components(green). By applying Newton's Third Law of Motion we find that a force (red) that is equal in size to the vertical component of the deflection but in the opposite direction is acting on the wing. From Newton's Second Law of Motion F=ma we learn that a change of the velocity or the the vertical component generates lift. "Lift is a force generated by turning a moving fluid" - Glenns Research Center Theory.

I have been flying since I was 12. I have a BA in Professional Aeronautics with Minors in Air Traffic Control and Aviation Safety.

I've seen the top skin pulled completely from the wings of aerobatic planes before.

I've always want to fly in an aerobatic aircraft. There's just something about the point and go that kicks ass. Then again, there's something about the grace of a J3 Cub. Wink

Interesting, that deflection lift would provide more lift than "Bernoulli" lift. We were taught about both, but they said that they couldn't tell what the ratios were.

Phantom, I will say you know more than I about aeronautics. I simply understand the basics of fluid dynamics.

Pictures are inbound after I get them loaded on photobucket which is taking forever.

It's all good. Aviation is my life. I'm just glad someone got to enjoy flying.

This is "old" advice since you've already been on your flight, however, when I was a young whippersnapper learning to fly and "hanging out" with "old, seasoned fliers", (usually WWII vets) a piece of advice that I got and I still abide today is "never fly in shoes that you couldn't walk home in."

Stop and think about it. If we break down in an automobile, at least we will be alongside a road. When you have an "incident" with an aircraft, you might find yourself in the boondocks...and that is not a place to be wearing flip flops or some other lame footwear.

When I get on board any aircraft today...especially commercial...I always will be wearing a pair of solid shoes that I could in fact walk home in.

I'm looking forward to the pics. Did he let you take the controls?

Also all pictures were shot with a Canon Rebel XSi using a 18 - 55mm lens.

I would have brought the telephoto lens but thinking it to big for the cockpit, considering its a 75 - 300mm lens.

I did get to take control for a little bit. I will post pictures of them later, as I do not have them in my possession.

And I got a picture or two of Wright-Patterson AFB, although I do not know what happened to them on my Photobucket account. So those will get posted later.

Thank you, I wasn't trying for anything special. But I must admit, it is beautiful picture.

Sunset is my favorite time to fly.
It's natures awe at it's finest sometimes.

I worked in the Luxottica building last year for a consulting gig. Neat view. Drove past Kings Island every day going and coming to work.

Wright - Patterson AFB

For whatever reason I can not make this photo any bigger.

But on the tarmac were four Hercs and smaller transports.

What school would that be from? Because most of the schools I know offer Professional Aeronautics as a BS program.
