Don't fly on an empty stomach. You are more likely to feel sick and/or get sick on an empty stomach. You don't want to be full to the gills, but a moderate amount of well balanced foods (what your doc would recommend for good health anyway) will keep your stomach settled. That's the advice that was given by the experts in Aerospace Physiology when training in the Air Force, and has worked for the students I knew who had problems with airsickness.

I'll say this, all the comments that proceeded this don't help. It's possible (probable) in my opinion that you won't experience any airsickness (passive or active). Airsickness with most people is 95% mental. However, you mention flying in a small plane and a bunch of people start talking about airsickness, like it's inevitable. Now you're worried about it, and it can become a self fulfilling prophecy.

You won't be doing an hour of acro, pulling heavy Gs, and getting upside down. You'll be in a Piper Cherokee, and probably won't experience more than 1.5 to 2Gs in a steep banked turn. In more than two thousand hours of flying, both military and civilian I got airsick twice. Once after a large heavy meal of chicken fried steak, eggs, and sausage, and after an hour of acro, pulling more than 6Gs at times, on a hot and humid day. The other on an empty stomach, after an hour of acro, pulling more than 6Gs at times, on a hot and humid day. Both had the added stress of being in Air Force pilot training. I've had lots of sorties on similarly hot and humid days, also doing lots of acro, pulling lots of Gs, and not getting sick. You certainly shouldn't have trouble flying a tame profile in a Piper Cherokee, and not having the stress of being graded by a military IP.

My advice, eat a normal healthy diet, enjoy your flight, and don't worry about airsickness, as it's not likely to happen.

Aircraft fly due to invisible "lifties" on the top of the wing.

They are very small and unseen by the human eye.

The pilot must keep them centered on the wings by using the control stick and making small inputs to keep the lifties in place.

If the pilot does not do this the lifties will roll off the wing and the airplane will fall out of the sky.

I thought it said that,

"Any Italian pilot will immediately surrender a German made plane to the first American or British soldier he sees."

You guys almost have me on the floor laughing here.

Well with the nasty weather we didn't fly this morning. So hopefully around 15:00 EST or so we will be flying.

Also I don't get airsick. So I figured a light meal will suffice.

As for the door apparently it has a bad seal, so I might get to flap my wings anyways.

I am super stoked for this. I can't wait to get to flying.

Why no polarized sunglasses? It's all I got. Now it would be one thing if I'm on a sortie huntin for Charlie in the bush or some MIG's.

So hopefully we will go flying this afternoon and SF will have pics this evening.

They'll work. It just some of them will make it so that you can't read any instruments. Depends on the angles of polarization.

Another quiz: Newton's 3rd Law.

Stay near the middle of the airspace. The closer you get to the edges, the higher the risk of bad things occuring. Takeoff is optional, landing is mandatory.

bernoulli principal = fluid dynamics.

Newtons third law = gravity vs lift.

Nick thanks for the weather update.

WSW with gusts at 22mph(guesstimateed).

We are instead leaving at 1600 EST, because of the crappy weather and clouds.

But it is most defiently on for today.

We're going to Urbana to check out an old WW2 bomber. This is going to be awesome.

Thanks again for the tips guys.

Pics inbound in a few.

Till then, keep safe and shoot straight.

Should be fun. Like I told my brother before his first single engine trip. "It's bouncy" And we only had updrafts from the late morning thermals. Have a good time!

Negative. That's not Newton's Third Law. Newton's Third Law states: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

It was slightly bouncy. Freaked me out a little bit. On the way back it was nice and smooth.

Which would be gravity vs lift? Lift vs gravity is equal action with a equal reaction.

It was super fun.

I got to fly a little bit.

We had a awesome meal at Grimes Airfield in Urbana.

As for pics that is a slight problem as I am currently posting from my sister's place. Pics will be uploaded when I get home, sometime tomorrow.

Also unfortuantely we did not get to see the B-17 bomber as there were no volunteers there restoring it.

And Otto Pilot too, it was beyond rough then.

Yup, just remember the plane wants to fly. That is way it was designed. It takes human intervention to muck things up good. Take pics, take video, have fun, and be prepared to repeat...over and over and over...

And we did get luck that day, no weather to speak of, and visability was darn close to unliimited. Next time HD video camera goes up SC. And I will buy the AV Gas too.
