DOE, HUD, Bureau of Land Management, Homeland Security, ATF, reorganize the DOD...too many subagencies have redundant/overlapping missions. That's just off the top of my head.

Set up new streamlined non-union agenices and subagencies (only those required by the Constitution), close all existing agencies on a named date, and prior to that date let the gov't employees apply to the new non-union agency.

"....no matter how efficient." That's quite a concept isn't it?

In real life, I think we would not like a government that was efficient. We depend on incompetence, inefficiency, waste, corruption within bounds, to make life a bit more tolerable. Hard to cheat otherwise!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

How about FEMA, the only agency that makes things worse when they arrive.

The fact that any of this is even a serious discussion and on the table at the highest levels...is a huge win on its own IMO. Things are moving the right way...

It also needs to be made more difficult for these agencies to promulgate new regulations that have the weight of law without legislation or oversight.

I'd like to make it FAR more difficult, as in impossible. Law making is supposed to reside with the legislative branch, not the executive. Giving law making authority to the executive is a gross bastardization of our Constitutional form of governance.

Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Either completely liquidate it totally or gut it from the top down and start over.

It has been cancerous and corrupt since its inception in the 1800's and nothing has changed.

Dept. of Education, EPA, BATF, DEA, Homeland Security (and almost all of its included alphabet agencies.....Border Patrol & ICE can stick around, albeit in a strictly redefined & useful manner), IRS.
