This isn't quite about agency elimination, but it touches on it.

Why do all these agencies have their own LE components with armed agents? Why isn't the FBI or Marshals charged with investigation and enforcement?

It would be interesting to know how many federal employees are authorized firearms and/or are sworn officers. I remember the DoEd buying some 14" shotguns several years ago. In some cases, the need is justified. In other cases, I think it's short dick syndrome.

In addition to what's already been said the Federal Protective Service is a shining example of fraud, waste and abuse.

A Veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

There is so much waste in Federal agencies it's almost criminal.

Report: Redundant federal programs waste billions

Even they don't know how many agencies they have...

A spokesperson for the Congressional Budget Office also confirmed to The Daily Caller that the CBO did not have a list of agencies and programs, and instead referred The Daily Caller to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
A GAO spokesman, in turn, referred The Daily Caller to OMB, stating that no list of programs has existed in the past because of the lack of a consensus within the federal government about what constitutes a program.
“OMB has not released the list of federal programs but has an effort underway to develop a count,” said another GAO official.

Any position titled "deputy assistant to the assistant deputy" for anything. At least half of those positions that don't show up when 'only essential services' advised to go to work on snow days or government shutdown days.

Sorry, but not quite perfect. Yeah knock off 40% at the top, but at the same time knock off 50% at the bottom levels.

Was it Parkinson's law that says that every bureaucracy grows at a constant rate of 5.75% per year, regardless of anything else?

The US gubbermint is a real living example of this. Some time ago it was disclosed that there were SEVENTY SEVEN different groups in the gubbermint, all with the exact same job description, all active at the same time, and their total accomplishment was to spend all their time, money, energy meeting with each other.

At those meetings they would discuss what they would be doing if they were not in all those meetings.

Not about agencies themselves but what about the hundreds of ridiculous studies paid for by government agencies every year.

Many years ago, a USNS ship had an issue with females getting pregnant. USN commissioned a study to find out why. Wink

Eliminating the Department of Education would be a mostly symbolic first step.
I believe that the education of children is the most important thing that parents do, too important to turn over to government.

Acceptance of public education inevitably leads to more socialism. Once you accept the premise that Education is a Right why wouldn't you accept the premise that Health Care is a Right?

Unfortunately, I have my doubts that either the Department of Education or Obamacare will be completely eliminated which cedes the most important ground to the 'progressive' commies.

In the video on the website the OMB director says he wants to "fix" it but if you listen you will hear that by "fix" it he means making it more effective and more efficient, but not that there are things government should not do, no matter how efficient.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Thanks for the info. Turns out the form has issues with my default browser (Google Chrome) but worked fine with my Internet Explorer, and all the fields show up in IE. Smile

Seems to me the Dept of Ed has the same role today as Goebbels had in Nazi Germany, to promote lies and brainwash the masses while usurping power.
