Double up with as high a rating as you can. I'm 43 and I have hearing aids. Loss isn't related to shooting but I'm paying now for the stupidity of my youth.

I wear both plugs and muffs. Better the more the merrier.

Many thanks for all the replies. I will continue to wear Leight L3s plus a rubber plug. I will buy three of the L3s for my occasional guest shooters:
