Even if she bought all this stuff second hand, I wonder how she can afford it. She's not in office yet, so she's not getting that $150k salary. If she used campaign funds for it, that's a legal problem. If the clothes were donated, that could be a legal and political problem. And if she really has the cash to dress like that, then I question her judgement. Would be nice to see a reporter commit a random act of journalism and pin her down on a question until she gives a real answer.

See above post. It was a photoshoot...

She’s a moron, and a total hypocrite for posing in this crap, but she doesn’t own the clothes.

Well, she boasts of being a smart thrift shopper. But even if they were "loaned to her" for the shoot, it's likely she got to keep them. And why would she do any photo shoot in such clothes? That goes to judgement.

I still don't understand what people think happens to the clothes. "I didn't get to keep them, duh!" Okay, so then what happens to a $3500 suit that you wear for one photoshoot? Does it go into a bin of cool clothes that people wear for one photoshoot? Will it get used again in 8mo when the style is no longer cutting edge? Do people wear used suits, especially at that level of political activity, for photoshoots? Does it get donated? Recycled? You certainly can't put it back on the rack with your commie sweat up in it.

People just say things that have no meaning. (Not you, reloader-1, but the girl herself.)

At the risk of going off-topic, and also revealing a bit much about myself... Wink

I’ve posed in shoots, as have family/friends. The answer to your question depends on if it is a designer shoot (I.e. the designer/client loaned the clothes) or a private shoot (client purchased the clothes).

In a designer shoot, the clothes is provided by the client/designer, and normally returned. They then sell it at any number of “off-price” stores, where it is sold at a deep discount. However, if the clothes was ruined during the shoot they just pitch it (too many pins/alterations to make it look good in photos).

For a private shoot, the photographer normally resells the clothes, some scummy ones actually return the clothes to the store.

Lastly, while the clothes may be worth $xxxx retail, the actual manufacturing cost is normally just a few dozen dollars, at most, so it’s not as if the designer is taking a massive hit. Fashion is an area where supply normally can far outstrip demand, so it’s not as if Manolo Blahnik is losing out on selling $700 pumps to someone because Macerena-Hey-Macerena wore the last pair in a shoot.

(Waaaay off-topic, but thought it might be useful?)

Edit: Para, just saw your post. Feel free to nuke this if appropriate.

Give a socialism advocate enough time and he'll show you how he stands to gain at the expense of the masses. Socialism for thee but not for me. It is as predictable as the rising sun. The only puzzling part is how the victims of Socialism continue to fall for it.

Eventually the world started turning on Scientology. Maybe the same will hold true of Socialism.

Socialism is great. For those in charge.

And I don't care if she owns the clothes or not - claiming to be 'against the rich' while wearing such expensive clothes is hypocrasy in its purest form.

Cortez does have a REP opponent in the race for the 14th congressional district of New York.

He is Anthony Pappas who is a professor of economics who got his Ph.D. in economics from Yale and who teaches at St. John’s University.

as recently as June Dr. Pappas didn’t even have a campaign website and hadn’t received a single campaign donation. Given the fact that the registration advantage for Democrats in the district is about 6 to 1, maybe that’s not too surprising.

Pappas recently announced he has accepted an invitation to debate Cortez.
