I saw this and to me it stuck out like a sore thumb. They didn’t think it mattered.

Was that a DIY gone wrong or did the builder actually deliver it that way?

I'm conflicted. Is the issue that the downspout is not attached to the building anywhere, 'or' is it that it appears to discharge into a piped drain instead of discharging onto the ground where it could flow into that body of water naturally?

My questions as well. Actually the image appears photo-chopped.

The builder did it correctly. I had some tree work done and as they came up the yard carrying a bunch of branches in a bobcat type of vehicle they ripped the gutter off the house. I was standing there watching the whole thing but the machinery running at the time was way to loud for me to even bother yelling. He noticed what he did and then looked over and saw me. Haha. He came over and apologized and said no problem they will replace it with new. I said no big deal. Apparently they are tree specialists and not gutter pros.

Obviously the S shape part of the downspout should be near the top instead of the bottom so the rest of the gutter runs down against the house instead of hanging a foot away from the house

There was a 5 man crew. How did 4 other guys see that and not make fun of the guy who replaced the downspout. Oh well they will fix their mistake.

Haha. Exactly. Who can look at that and think it’s normal.

The owner probably did it that way because they'd rather have a wonky looking downspout than holes for attachments drilled into bricks or mortar.

I live in a house built in the 1850's by a committee of gibbons on crack. If that's the only problem he has with his house, the man's doing just fine.

The downspout fitting at the bottom doesn't look quite right either?

There’s a few across the lake that I would like to take down but the eagles love to perch in them while fishing.

Pretty much. The tree guys accidentally ripped it off the house and bought a new replacement but put it back on upside down. The S part of the downspout needs to be at the top so the straight portion is hugging the wall instead of hanging out in the breeze a foot from the house.
