You will have mail...the old fashioned kind.

Bump for a great bunch of folks helping a great guy.

Thanks for organizing this for the group ROTN.

I'll try to have one in the mail in the next day or so.

More than happy to help Steve ouy, Only 1 transaction through him so far, but it was flawless. Look forward to more.

Don't worry Steve, the power of the forum will come through and help get you back on your feet, all we expect is the same great deals and great service that you've always given! Try not to worry about things too much, just go with it and you'll make it through.

No interest in the generous raffle, but happy to donate.

I know PayPal gets a bum rap here, but it makes it a 1000x easier for me to transfer $$'s. Is there a PayPal account?

I'd like to see an escrow acct. set up so that both Steve and Tony are protected. I think there are Internet Escrow sites that could be used; accountability, assurance, and transparency are best practices.

Since I have limited knowledge about Pay Pal and do not have an account that can receive money, I have no way of doing this. My plan was to use a secondary savings account at my credit union to keep the funds seperate. This is what I did with the shoulder holster raffle I did a few years ago. It was low tech but it worked.

If this is an issue, I will be more than happy to step aside and allow another member to run with this. They can just notify me of who won the speakers and where to ship them.

My only concern is to help out a friend and fellow member.

Jeeze man, just send a check.

Escrow account? Lets not make this more complicated than it really needs to be.

I don't think Rotndad is going to run off with the money. Roll Eyes

Rotndad, just do what you are doing, it is an awesome thing to do and I think I can speak for most here that we trust you. My check will be sent to you tomorrow.

Sorry I brought it up - I should know better by now.

I deal with money transactions all the time, and was thinking about both Tony and Steve. I guess you've never had a problem with money and friends.

I'll bow out now; chastened.

Tony,
I'm flat busted broke right now due to my wife's b-day, but I will drop a check in the mail on 8/1 when I get my next pay check. Steve was really good to deal with and anything I can do to help will be done.

Afer reading Mosttoyswins post, I can see where SIGnified's post might have been taken wrong. However, I also know SIGnified and I personally took his post to mean that he was offering an idea to protect both Steve and myself. In addition to make it easier for Forumites to donate.

Thanks to both of you.

SIGnified - for thinking of Steve and I.
Mosttoyswins - for having my back. Wink

Tony, kudos for setting this up for the best dealer out there who also happens to be a great guy, and even better friend, dad and fine human being!

About PayPal/check. I'm still in Panama and would love to contribute but would have to do it through PayPal, unless you have WAMU.

I'll absorb any costs.

ETA - Steve may still have a couple of my signed checks, that may work. He'll have to write and send in his own donation! Eek

I think it is a small fee per transaction ($.20 or so) plus a small percentage of the transaction amount (2% or so). Those numbers are just SWAG since I haven't used it in a while, but it's in the ballpark. The fees are autmatically deducted so if someone sent you $20 using my numbers, only $19.40 would make it to your account. You can link your paypal account to your bank acccount. The money can just pile up and when the raffle is over, you can wire everything at once to your bank account. Last time I used it, no additional fee was charged for this.

Point taken SIGnified...I understand what you were trying to do.

No offense intended.

the fees are somewhere between 2-3% if I am not mistaken. It's not a whole lot, but it adds up.

If it'll help, I have done quite a bit on paypal in the past. I'll be glad to accept and transfer any funds directly to you from my account, if you'd rather not go through setting up an account. I'll be happy to help out any way I can.
