Ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, surely I can't look that old?

Well . . . You'll love this one.

My name is Alice, and I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his dentist’s diploma on the wall, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 40-odd years ago. Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?

Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate.

After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Morgan Park High School.

“Yes. Yes, I did… I'm a mustang,” he gleamed with pride.

“When did you graduate?” I asked.

He answered, “In 1975. Why do you ask?”

“You were in my class!,” I exclaimed.

He looked at me closely.

Then, that ugly, old, bald, wrinkled faced, fat-assed, gray-haired, decrepit, son-of-a-bitch asked,

“What did you teach?”

Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.

Complacency sucks…

We are having our 50th year HS graduation party this summer (pending the virus stuff) they informed us everyone will have to wear the issued name badges, as we won't be able to recognize anyone at the party based on what they looked like 50 years ago.

At my wifes 40th they had made buttons with each persons high school pic and name. I thought that was a great idea.

My HS 65th is this summer. I hadn't planned on attending (it's 1500 miles away) but I did do the 50th (and I did recognize quite a few there). No one recognized me (I have a beard and mustache now) until I spoke--then everyone knew who I was. (I guess my residence in Texas hasn't damaged my Detroit accent too badly.)

I used to tell old people jokes. I don't do that anymore as I am starting to fit more and more of those old people jokes. Smile

My mental image of myself is in the 20-30 range--until I look in the mirror or feel my twinges. . . .

I keep thinking I need to save some hair clippings and pick out a few colored hairs to remember. It will soon be all white. It was once about black.

I’m probably the old person now.

I had reason to go to the emergency room a year or two back. While I’m sitting there a conversation is going on in an adjoining room “Oh yeah, there’s this sixty something guy out there that cut off his finger...” So I’m looking around for some old guy that also has a bandage on his hand.... it was me.

The finger, well, that’s another story.
