Need Help From the Hive - Looking for a Buisness Term
Putting together a case study about a supplier and looking for a business type terminology.

At this suppler, the General Manager does not get weekly/bi-weekly status from his Program Manager(s). The GM only want to know when there are problems and issues he needs to deal with.

That is; he doesn't try to prevent problems and issues in advance through a collaboration of all PMs.

I fail to remember the terminology for this type of leadership (and I can't use "lives in a bubble", "piss poor", etc to describe the leadership style).

Can't recall what this type leadership is referred to.

Thanks

Management by exception was the term 40 years ago in college.

Thanks all.

Think I am going to go with this (and come back later to see if it still makes sense):

(bullet with sub-bullet)

- GM does not get involved has a passive leadership style; stays aloof of daily operations and events
-- Reactive management style (ie., Management by Exception)

Neglectful leadership.

Passive leadership.

Passive management.

Willfully blind.

Willful ignorance.

Uniformed management.

Seagulling? Flies in after it’s all over to squawk and shit on everything, then flies off to do again somewhere else

Management by exception works, but only if the PMs are good.

If not fire their ass and get new ones. Wink

In a large company there can be 100s/1000s PMs

The last thing the GM wants to hear about is all the PMs problems unless they can't fix them at their level.

On the other hand we called managers that you called seagulls, buffaloes, comes by stomps around, bellows, gores a couple of people, leaves a big pile of buffalo chips, moves on to commit more havoc somewhere else.
