I used to give new babies a piggy bank.
Wal Mart had a great selection , 40 versions for $10.00 each, for a two quart plaster jobs.

Now the stores here quit carrying them. Frown

I can't even find decent injection molded plastic models.

How much would it cost to get some plastic piggy banks made?

Standing pigs, sitting pigs, maybe a few that look like cash registers in five colors , brown footballs, white baseballs, orange basketballs, white golf balls, blk and white soccer balls.

order maybe 1400 total.

( I know you can still get a few at Wal Mart on line)

I use coffee cans. One for nickels, one for dimes, and one for quarters. Pennies I toss. Recently took one in to the bank and had $180 in quarters in it.

Michael's Craft stores have them in my area, in ceramic. They are big and can be decorated with paint or sharpie markers.

Nowadays, since piggy bank can't accept debit cards or Paypal payments, they're quickly going the way of the Dodo.

(Heck, even Monopoly uses debit cards now...)

Got a couple for our nephews a couple years back on Amazon. Just found one for their little sister at World Market.

Not ubiquitous, perhaps, but not hard to find if you look.

Largely because Americans don't save anymore...not even symbolically.

Not a week goes by I don't see an article outlining how the majority of Americans could not pay an unexpected $1000 bill.

Can you make your own? That was a thing in the 70s. Or maybe look for the Japanese Lucky Cat bank. Those are available online or at asian grocery stores. More fashionable than a pig.
