Jim ShugartI just put my dog Merlot to sleep.
I keep wanting to call the vets and ask if there is any way that they can her back for another day or two.Obviously there isn't.
I'd give my life for a another hug.

justjoeLove and grief go hand in hand in this world. I'd give anything for another day with my mother. Or with my best friend Norman. Or....
And so it goes.
But every minute of those 17 years with Merlot was worth the pain, wasn't it, Jim? Every minute was a gift, for you and for her.
Take care of yourself, my friend. Be strong.

My heart aches for you Jim. It's been 4 years since I lost my little buddy but I still can remember that pain. I know that during these first days or weeks no words can bring much comfort other than knowing you have friends here that can relate. Lean on us anytime.

P226RNHeartbreaking. So many of us understand the feelings of wanting a "last time" again. So damn sorry. Be kind to yourself. Grieve as long as you need to however you need to. Hugs.
If it won't matter in 5 years don't give it more than 5 minutes.

It's been over a year. I still feel the same way. Her collar and leash are hanging by the back door to this day.
