I don't see that at all. I see two working coppers totally fed up with their Command Staff and frustrated because they were told to stand down. They were in essence telling the guy that he should ask someone who formulates policy why they were told to stand down. Don't blame the street cops for what happened or the decisions the Command Staff makes. These two guys were probably biting at the bit to go out there and "restore order".

Do the police let these jokers struggle a bit during the symbolic arrest to make it look really extra super oppressive?

In the ones I watched, they did. Off camera, granny stepped onto the restricted property and knelt down, ready to get her symbolic arrest. Then, as the officer helped her to her feet and the awaiting bus trip to jail, a photographer ran up for the money picture, and granny immediately twisted up and put a gut-wrenching grimace on her face, made to look like she was being man-handled. Once the picture was taken, she calmly got on the bus. I don't think the officer actually 'let' her do it, but there wasn't much he could do, short of actually man-handling her.

Exactly it!!!!!!! At one protest the arrestees were passive resisting, forcing us to carry them past the media. Once out of sight of the media, they asked us to put them down so they could walk to the arrest bus.

The two Berkeley LEOs in the video are "symbolic" police officers.
Maybe they should be paid in "symbolic" dollars.

Berkeley cancels Ann Coulter speech

https://townhall.com/notebook/...peech-fight-n2315519

"We have been unable to find a safe and suitable venue for your planned April 27 event featuring Ann Coulter," vice chancellors Scott Biddy and Stephen Sutton emailed the student groups. “In the wake of events surrounding the planned appearance by (right-wing speaker) Milo Yiannopoulos in February, as well as several riots which have occurred in recent weeks in the city of Berkeley, we have increased our scrutiny regarding the time and location of high-profile speakers so that these events can go forward unimpeded.”

The university also requested that if Coulter should decide to still come to the campus, that they not disclose the location until closer to the event and only students would be allowed to attend. She agreed to the conditions but told the university she had her own conditions, as described on YAF's blog:

1) That the University of California chancellor request that the Oakland chief of police refrain from telling his men to stand down and ignore law-breaking by rioters attempting to shut down conservative speakers, as he has done in the past; and

2) That UC-Berkeley announce in advance that any students engaging in violence, mayhem or heckling to prevent an invited speaker from speaking would be expelled.

As Coulter explained, “If Berkeley wants to have free speech, it can have it.”

Good for her - maybe she can call one of their riot specialists and arrange for a symbolic arrest.

The left is really not far from book burnings. Would it surprise anybody at this point if these fascists at Berkeley held a big bonfire of Ann Coulter's books? They are not protected under the First Amendment because they are, you know, hate speech.

"Hate speech," "safe spaces," "trigger warnings" "free speech zones"-- these are all intended to undermine the First Amendment.

I don't think totalitarianism ever reared its head so unmistakably in America as we have seen in the past 8 years, and going forward.

Perhaps, but the tone of some of the follow up "You got any other questions?" responses leads me to believe otherwise. And 'if' these cops are participating in the "symbolic arrest" crap others have linked to in this thread, then I stand by my initial comment that these are not LEO's.

I think that needs to be seen again. Liberals believe in free speech only if they agree with what is said. If they disagree, it is than hate speech and is a crime.

I've seen several videos of the "Antifa" rioters decked out like ISIS, and one dreadlocked woman in particular who like to throw M-80s at Trump supporters (some allege inside glass bottles). I'm thinking a symbolic sucking chest wound would go a long ways in reforming their view of free speech.

Ann Coulter vows to speak at Berkeley after event called off...

You Go girl!!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

This is a case where she needs to be protected, her right to speak needs to be defended. Where are these "Bikers for Trump" I've heard about? She needs a massive show of support from those of us who value our liberty. Forget hundreds, thousands should show up-- all carrying "Free Speech!" signs on hickory dowels about three feet long and a couple of inches thick.
