I read the whole thing and wish you the best. I left LE due to a hearing loss. I may have been able to press on with hearing aids, but I pulled the pin because my Dept would have done me the way they did you. And they treated me like crap while I waited for my retirement to through. Happens to a lot of cops. And leaving LE may be a good thing for you, since it can make depression worse. Good luck! They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. I don't know what TX laws are regarding retirement, in addition to checking if disability retirement is a possibility, find out if deferred retirement is possible. If you can let your retirement contributions ride, it can be very beneficial to you down the road vs. a quick (and quickly used up) payout now. I get it, the help understanding and patients of a wonderful companion helped me immensely when work related stress got the best of me. life can get better , After 5 months of b.s. and reevaluation , I got the hell out of one line of work and in to something totally different. I had to learn a lot of stuff and re-configure a few perspectives , but the torture went away. every now and then a bout of anxiety will bring it back to the surface. best wishes for you and a happier new yearThis message has been edited. This may sound strange, but you did the right thing in getting out of that job and admitting yourself for psychiatric treatment. Now do another right thing for yourself and get a good employment attorney. Firing someone for job related disability is wrong, and in most places illegal. It wasn't that long a post, and there are a number of people here who read it and will give you support. | |||
