Kill markings on an F-18.

Google is amazing:

quote:
Lt. Cdr. Michael Tremel stands next to his F/A 18-E Super Hornet on board the USS George W. Bush last July. The tomahawk symbols represent strike missions and the "kill" symbol for his shootdown is upper right. (Photo courtesy of Save The Royal Navy)

He apparently shot down a Syrian Su-22; hence, the Syrian flag (that is the standard 'kill' marker - the flag of whatever nationality the pilot (or plane) shot down). I don't know why there is an airplane silhouette AND a flag - normally, they just list the flag. Maybe the silhouette is from a shoot-down of a drone on a missile test range? . .

I don't think those are tomahawks.

They look like high drag bombs with the fins deployed.

They're definitely tomahawks. Feathers on one side and a plade on the other.

Confused What are we supposed to be motivated to do after seeing the tomahawks on the F18?
