I was really just joking. I did read the article, it was tongue-in-cheek, and it actually seemed like a satirical piece. If it really was a safety issue, they have one agent that tests the food? No backup? No one else got sick, and you would think they would have asked the President's preferences prior to his visit. I don't get why he said no. kind of disrespectful to the hosts, no? I can't eat lobster or shellfish because I'm Jewish - I don't get why he passed up a great sounding menu.

A food taster? Really? Wouldn't there be technology to test for toxins and poisons in 2013 more readily? Sound goofy to me.... Sons of the Republic of Texas, NRA, TSRA God Bless America

Joking or tongue-in-cheek, the Muslim thing is worn out, and not at issue here. Because when "taster" comes up, "Monarch" comes up. I don't know if the president has a taster, or if any presidents in modern history have. It's not really at issue for me, unless he is demanding something not afforded previous presidents. The idea of a taster certainly sounds like satire, and it is puzzling why the entire meal was passed on. It certainly is a snub to the host. I am not sure a president that I do like would be so presumptuous as to tell me what I should eat, or what I should feed my kids for lunch, and then seek to enforce it.

Yes, it is. I think it's an issue anytime someone who's paid by the taxpayers partakes of that with the taxpayer themselves can't afford. And this president virtually goes out of his way to make sure we all know that he and his family are not subject to anything the rest of us are. The words empathy or respect are not a part of his, or many like him, language. ----------------------------- The first lesson of economics is scarcity: there is never enough of anything to fully satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics. - Thomas Sowell Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself. - Milton Friedman
