some brief comments about the transcript of FBI agent Gaeta

DJ_Boston - thanks for pointing out which transcript was Gaeta's. I didn't pick up on that until I saw your post.

Mike Gaeta's name was on the transcript name list (he was #18)

But the actual transcript was described as "Witness Name Redacted". Everywhere in the 113 page transcript Gaeta's name is blacked out. But it is obvious from so much other info that this is FBI Supervisory Special Agent Gaeta.

Hard to summarize, but a few snips:

Gaeta confirms that he was Steele's FBI handler. Steele was an FBI Confidential Human Source.

Gaeta did meet w Steele in London on 5 July 2016. (suspected for a long time, now 100% confirmed)

Steele claimed in a lawsuit that he was not an FBI CHS, but rather he had a contract w the FBI. Steele signed several FBI documents under the title "CHS". I guess in his spook fraternity it isn't cool to be an FBI snitch.

Bruce Ohr has been associated w C Steele for a long time. Ohr introduced Gaeta to Steele in 2010.

Steele showed Gaeta the first reports from the dossier on 5 July 2016.

Steele told Gaeta that he was working for Glenn Simpson

keep in mind that Glenn Simpson has given testimony that the FBI never talked to him. Not a very curious FBI

Gaeta asked Steele if there was any corroboration of the info. Steele said no.

Steele said the info came from his source network. Because it was a counterintelligence investigation, Steele and his sources would never be on a witness stand.

how convenient. they could say whatever they wanted

Gaeta didn't know who to send the info to. "it's got to be verified, corroborated before anybody can do anything with it"

or on the other hand, we could go ahead and use it to claim that Trump campaign staff are Russian agents. Heck, we could claim that Trump was controlled by Russia. Verification ? Who needs stinking verification? Not the FBI

Gaeta: "they have to verify it" "In and of itself this doesn't mean anything"

Gaeta knew it had to be discreet as he passed it on to others in the FBI.

Gaeta contacted the FBI NY field office on 12 July 2016.

The NY field office got back to Gaeta on 28 July 2016.

On either the 31 July 2016 or 1 Aug 2016, NY field office informs Gaeta that FBI headquarters at the EAD level is aware of and has the reports.

EAD Executive Assistant Director. There is an EAD for National Security Branch which includes the Counterintelligence Division. This EAD reports to the FBI Deputy Director (then Andrew McCabe)

In the middle of August 2016, Gaeta was advised there was unit in headquarters that needed to see the reports. It took 3 weeks to a month to get the name of the person to send the info to.

that takes us to mid Sept 2016

Gaeta was given the name of a unit chief at headquarters in the counter intelligence program

it appears the FBI won't let Gaeta reveal the actual name

Gaeta sends the info to the unit chief in counterintelligence in the second week to early third week of Sept 2016

hmmm by 31 July or 1 Aug 2016 an EAD who reports to McCabe has had the first dossier reports.

Christopher Steele visits Perkins Coie law firm on 29 July 2016 (we know that from a law suit deposition)

Christopher Steele visits Bruce Ohr on 30 July 2016 in DC. Ohr reports the Steele visit immediately to McCabe.

On 29 July 2016 the FBI legal attaché in London filed Australian Alexander Downer's info under the DNC hack case number. The legat sent an EC to Philadelphia and it was immediately passed to FBI HQ in the Cyber Counterintelligence Coordination Section (this was about Papadopoulos)

The Counterintel operation is opened by Strzok on 31 July 2016.

But then the FBI takes 7 weeks to get the Steele dossier info to an unnamed counterintel unit chief

The FBI is still lying to us

Gaeta: Steele had developed his Russian network when he was in Russia. He remained in touch w them for years. Steele said he had a good source network. Gaeta didn't ask who they were.

The unnamed unit chief at headquarters contacted Gaeta and set up a mtg w Steele on 3 Oct 2016. FBI Counterintel ran the mtg

Counterintel tasked Steele to continue to get information. They said that Steele would only be doing this for the FBI. Steele would have to end any relation w anybody else.

FBI Counterintel offered Steele payment for his work. That was canceled when Steele gave his reports to Mother Jones in late Oct 2016

Gaeta was unaware that Steele had briefed NYT, Wash Post, Yahoo News, The New Yorker, and CNN in Sept 2016.

Zippy doesn’t like it. Whata surprise.

“Barack Obama has blasted Attorney General Bill Barr’s decision to drop charges against Michael Flynn as one that puts the rule of law ‘at risk’ just a day after it was learned that the former president knew details about the ex-general’s wiretapped phone calls with Russia’s ambassador…”

Good article linked by Pipe Smoker. obama's trying to cover his ass and letting everyone else know their asses are on the line too.

"In his web call on Friday, Obama, who is an expert in constitutional law having been the first black president of the Harvard Law Review in spring 1990, said the Flynn case was one of the main reasons that his former administration officials needed to do all they could to help Biden defeat Trump in November.

‘So I am hoping that all of you feel the same sense of urgency that I do,’ he said."

Susan Rices email to herself 2 weeks after the obama meeting looks worse now than it did when it was first revealed.

I wonder what Flynn has on obama?

If I am not mistaken, that wasn't a bag given away for a $60 donation to NPR.

That is intereessting, very intereessting.

Obama Panics – President Obama Gives Political Operatives and Media Talking Points to Protect Him…

The good news is former President Obama is panicked by recent sunlight; the slight possibility of a U.S. DOJ that may soon have him in the cross-hairs; and the more obvious possibility the American people will discover the scale of his corrupt weaponization of intelligence to target his political opposition.

The better news is former President Obama is so heavily concerned about the looming possibilities; rather than relying on intermediary instructions through Media Matters; he is giving political operatives and national media his instructions directly. LISTEN:

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

a brief observation on the House Intel transcripts

Two of the people interviewed were Fusion GPS partners w Glenn Simpson

Peter Fritsch and Tom Catan pled the 5th to every question. Including where they were employed.

So far Fusion GPS appears to have escaped any penalty for their central role in the coup attempt to take down President Trump.

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig tweets:

"At a certain point, Robert Mueller needs to step forward to defend his investigation, his own name, and the prosecutors and agents who worked for him."

Wouldn't that be fun. Maybe a debate between Mueller and AG Barr moderated by Jim Jordan
