Hail storm just go my old car, new car was in the garage Login/Join

That was close.

The new Escape resides in garage, while my old retired X5 was put out in the driveway.

A hail storm just dropped golf ball sized hail here and the BMW has one big dent in the hood.
It will see a paintless repair.

The new Escape was in the garage and all is well.

In all the 13 years I have owned that BMW, and all the weather it has seen, at least nature didn't go after it until I was pretty much done with it.
Youngest daughter's retired 2000 Subaru got destroyed with dozens of dents.

Correction, 2 dents in the hood of the old BMW, one shallow, one deep.
Dozens to the Subaru.

The Escape escaped damage.

Normally, I would spitting be tacks, but since the Escape is unharmed, the X5 is basically retired with 200K miles and two dents, I feel pretty good, considering.

One sees lots of cars over the years along the Front Range with hail damage.

I have lived along the Front Range for 44 years, 34 of those years without a garage, and now, for the first time, I have hail damage to one of my vehicles.

I consider that blessed and a good run, but it was only a matter of time until the hail got me.

I hope you all don't get what we did.

I've been very fortunate. I never leave anything of value out unless I am driving it on some essential errand. Before I retired, my job allowed me indoor parking if I needed it. This time of the year when I pass a large car dealer, I often think about the potential for damage to all the new cars sitting there on the lot.

Well shoot, we actually got bigger hail! I put a tape on one piece and it's about 2 1/4 inches at it's widest. There wasn't a lot of hail, not even enough to really water the grass, but I have a few dents in my old (97) truck and my camper has some dents. The skylights in the house were spared, thankfully. Haven't been up on the roof yet. I rather foolishly grabbed a couple of bigger chunks for closer examination while they were bouncing in the yard. I'm unscathed, but it's probably the closest I'll ever come to incoming fire! Eek.....I hope.

We're watching intently, but so far no hail, or even heavy rain out here east of Cheyenne. Saw a video of quarter-sized hail or better over on the west side of town, up at the Wyoming DHS office, vicinity of I-25, north of Frontier Park

Last year, during CFD, my truck sustained $5,000 + in hail damage--glad it's in the garage today.

We had golfball size hail yesterday, legit golfball size stuff. I thought the house was coming part. Ended up with two broken windows, shredded screens, dented front door and all the west facing siding and trim is destroyed. neighborhood looks like a war zone. Luckily we had the cars in the garage.

The last storm a few weeks back did $8,000 worth of damage to a friend's truck.

Brutal.

Yep, golf ball size.
In looking over the X5, it has way more damage than I first thought.
There are 5 dents on the hood and about 20 on the roof.

The car is worth 5 grand, I fear it's a total.

The Great Escape, love it.

I went over to visit youngest daughter and grandson for a few hours.
Looking at the weather, I drove the X5.
I love this X5 but I seem to be experiencing it's age now that I have a new car.
I love that X5, but the reality is it's a rat.
But it was a good 178K miles with original everything except suspension components, brakes, computer and a fuel pump.

That's good service life I think.

had a similar storm come thru a few weekends ago,

golf ball and larger,

in about 10 minutes time,
$2600 in damage to my Mini
$5000 to my Tundra,

house will get new screens, siding, gutters and roof,

fortunately, no windows were broken (screens saved them)

I picked up a piece off the back deck that was slightly larger than a golf ball,

shit was brutal

My truck that got damaged is a 97 Ford F150 with 287,000 miles. I bought it 11 years ago for $6,000. It's just a "work" truck and is the only one of our vehicles that sits outside. I've gotten my money out of it several times over. I happen to still have full coverage on it and will see what the damage comes to. There's really no point in putting any money into it, rather the damage is just more character at this point. There was also a tornado warning this afternoon - maybe we got lucky!

Yes, there was a tornado somewhere near Greeley.

If they total my X5 and cut me a check, it's probably for the best.
