I don’t drink an arbitrary amount but I do keep an eye on the color. If it’s winter and I’m not doing too much I don’t need anywhere near what I need in the summer to keep my urine a nice light yellow.

I would think it all depends where you are.

Water consumption in Arizona, when it's 110 degrees, LOT'S of water.

In Death Valley, California, in July, you can't drink enough water.

My stone docs have said you need to pee 2 litres worth every day. You need enough water for that plus sweat.

What comes out is a much more accurate form of measure as compared to what goes in.

I always drink 2 to 4 liters of water per day sometimes more if I'm sweating/ working out.

But I have always been a big water drinker. I do like coffee too and that takes out water.

Depending on how much water is in beer, between six and eight 12 oz servings usually suffices.

Not according to Web MD (and others)

SNIP: Bolded sentance by me...
Coffee and tea also count in your tally. Many used to believe that they were dehydrating, but that myth has been debunked. The diuretic effect does not offset hydration.

Some days I drink NO plain water. But I do try to drink more than I used to, and cut down on sodas.

Sweet (green) Ice Tea is my weakness.

It seems like a lot...but it really isn't. Using a 1-liter bottle makes it easier.
I don't hit the 95 ounces every day, but do try.
My brother used to be a personal trainer and the certification agency recommended 40% of body weight excluding the water you drink while exercising. The majority of the time, I've been meeting or exceeding that for 15+ years, and I feel like crap when I do not hit the target.

Here is a comparison between 40% and 50%:

I drink a lot of water. I have a 32oz water bottle that I bring to work. I usually drink four full bottles through the day. If I go to lunch, then I usually have a couple glasses of iced tea.

I try to leave the beer for the weekends and the soda for those special occasions when I need something sweet.

Drink Water?? I’ve heard of such. From an old cowboy movie

I go in stages where I drink 2-3 bottles of H2O a day to none. Funny how other beverages go down quicker.

What is the best way to drink water so your body absorbs it and you retain minerals? When I drink a glass on the hour it seems to just pass right through me.

Also, how much do you add when living in a desert climate?

Kidney failure patient here, we are allowed a maximum of 32 ounces of fluid per day including the liquid in your food. I try to use much less than that so that at dialysis they do not have to pull off so much .

Medical specialists say excessive thirst and excessive urination are symptoms of diabetes. I found that when I changed my diet, my thirst and urination decreased.

That said, as a runner, I try to stay hydrated, so I drink water all day long. I have two cups of coffee in the morning, and the rest of my fluids are water only.

The old recommendation still stands for me: 8 glasses of water a day, which translates to 64 ounces. I don't understand this measuring a fluid by weight. Fluids are typically measured by volume, as I recall.

William Claude Dukenfield, better known as W. C. Fields, had a few comments about water:
  • Once, during Prohibition, I was forced to live for days on nothing but food and water."

  • "I never drink water, that is the stuff that rusts pipes."

  • ". . . my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water."

  • "I never drink water. I'm afraid it will become habit-forming."

  • "You can't trust water. Even a straight stick turns crooked in it."

  • "I don't drink water. Fish fuck in it."

128+ ounces a day for me. I work outdoors.

Only time I'll drink something other than water is if I drink sweet tea when I go out to eat or lemonade from Chick Fil-A. I do not drink soda at all.
