Question: When is the use of "@#$%" or "@#$%ing" acceptable?

Answer: There are only 11 times throughout history where the "F" word has been considered acceptable for use.

In ASCENDING order, those exclamations were:

11. "What the @#$% do you mean, we are sinking?"

~ Capt. E.J. Smith of RMS Titanic, 1912.

10. "What the @#$% was that?"

~ Mayor Of Hiroshima, 1945

9. "Where did all those @#$%ing Indians come from?"

~ George Custer, 1877

8. "Any @#$%ing idiot could understand that!"

~ Albert Einstein, 1938.

7. "It does so @#$%ing look like her!"

~ Picasso, 1926

6. "How the @#$% did you work that out?"

~ Pythagoras, 126 BC.

5. "You want WHAT on the @#$%ing ceiling?"

~ Michelangelo, 1566.

4. "Where the @#$% are we?"

~ Amelia Earhart, 1937

3. "Scattered @#$%ing showers, my ass!"

~ Noah, 4314 BC

2. "Aw, come on Monica. Who the @#$% is going to find out?"

~ Bill Clinton, 1998

"AND THE WINNER IS ....

1. "There is no @#$%ing way Trump will ever become President"

~ Hillary Clinton, 2016

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I like number one (Titanic), but this one I actually believe was uttered by Earhart to her navigator. I really couldn't help but chuckle.

It may also be a quote from the Captain of a certain ocean going minesweeper which got my OCS section mate Prince Henry for a navigator as his first duty station.

Prince Henry earned that affectionate nickname when he flunked navigation, went to mandatory stupid study, then avoided getting the boot by one question.

When he got his orders, before graduation, he called the XO to introduce himself, ask about what his role might be. The XO told him to get his ass out there (San Francico) on the double, they were leaving for WestPac the minute he stepped aboard, and he was going to be the navigator!

I'm trying to eradicate that word from my vocabulary. The liberals have become too fond of it. I don't want to be mistaken for one of them.

I don't use and never have used the word(s). I don't utter expletives at all. I have other ways of expressing my astonishment, puzzlement, or disappointment.

I’m with ya. Plus, whilst I was still working, I had to listen to virtually everyone under 30 use it in every sentence (“O my God that’s a beautiful fucking baby!! congrats!”) and so forth.

I understand your plight. However, I do not willfully associate with people who are addicted to profanity--at work or not. If they have "potty mouths" my conversations with them are very short, if at all.

Well in the infamous words of Tommy DeVito, "@#$% you, yuh @#$%in' @#$%!!"

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24
