It is before taxes. The state will withhold 25% and then the winner will be responsible for any remaining taxes due in the usual course of filing his annual tax return.

About $170 million after all the taxes on the books for 2017. I do not know the top rate for 2018, but if Forbes is accurate, he'll end up with about seven or eight million more.

No State tax in Florida.


I know. I live there. But the lottery is paid out by the state and it withholds 25% to cover federal income tax liabilities.
