By Ranger belt, do you mean the:
  • nylon harness-like belts such as Wilderness' Original Instructor's Belt
  • leather Western style belt like the Texas Rangers used to wear

If it's the first, I rarely ever wear it for CCW but I do wear it at the range. Got too fat for my Wilderness, but I surprisingly like the Uncle Mike's just as well.

If it's the 2nd, it isn't my style but I suspect the Cowboy action shooters have a preference.

As far as my EDC belts:
  • I have a leather Beltman from the original owner. 8+ years old and saw a ton of use its first 5 years. Has held up well and is a darn good belt.
  • In May 2016, I bought 2 Armour belts. A 1.25" wide belt I wear every day to work but have only carried a gun with it a few times. A 1.5" wide embossed belt that I wear on weekends and evening and it's my primary carry belt. Both are fantastic and slightly prefer over Beltman.
  • In 2017, I bought a pair of Lucchese full quill ostrich boots and decided I needed a belt to go with it. In May '17, I bought an Armour Belt with full quill ostrich inlays. I only wear once or twice a month but I really like it and get tons of compliments.

Great, now that this question is answered, it's time to move on to the next important question that is never asked here.

Which is better? SIG or Glock

I appreciate most of your responses, the helpful ones. I never understood why someone would post in a thread just to say something negative.

Anyway, now I'm wondering if bisonhide is better than regular cowhide. Anyone?

I have had great luck with this Aker leather belt from Amazon. Rock solid.

I wish I needed four more , I'd know where to go .

at my age , this may be the last belt I need .

I bought two from here about 20 years ago

    https://epsaddlery.com/

They dye is wearing off in a couple of places but they are still going strong.

I also ordered on from Amour Belts about 5 years ago, the billet is starting to fray a bit but is is an exotic, it is built with stingray over the leather.

I can recommend, from over a decade of use and still looks good, Beltman. If I were to order another one it would be with seven holes three-quarters of an inch apart, rather than the standard five holes one inch apart. Since first buying it my waistline has changed slightly, now it is a little too tight with the third (center) hole from the end, a little loose with the second hole.

Unless you want something ultra fancy that they don't offer, Beltman is the best value for a quality belt. As good as any out there, just for a little less $$.
All the quality holster makers that make belts are also excellent but usually more expensive with a longer wait time (in most cases).
Beltman has chosen to stick with belts. I think the original owner has passed the torch to younger members of the family but they have maintained excellent quality and service so it's invisible to the customer.

I have purchased a couple belts from Countryboy, and they are fantastic in worksmanship and quality.

I also purchased an 1 1/4 inch water buffalo hide double thickness belt from bullhidebelts.com.

Another Armour belt user here. Very stiff, does not sag even with the heaviest of weapons.
