Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

Despite the signs, I think folks can't imagine just how powerful jet blast is. Go to 2:18, if this link messes up:

Makes sense to me. I wonder about a possible lawsuit, "you warned me, I ignored the warnings and died, but it is your fault and you owe money".

I wonder if they would put up a lighting system controlled by the controllers to stop drivers on the road. Essentially control the stop lights. Plane enters the runway, turn the lights red. Plane on short final, turn the lights red. Or at least something like that.

We have control of the PPRP/Taxiway Z lights at BFI. It makes it abundantly clear when there is an aircraft departing that pavement to any vehicles on the perimeter road.

Vehicles don't seem to be the issue. Back when PTZtv.com had a webcam at the Sunset Beach Bar, I could see vehicles stop short of the aircraft's ground track and watch the aircraft fly by. Same for aircraft taking off. It's the two-legged idiots that appear to be the problem, standing directly behind and in-line of the jet's engine exhaust.

She was upper-50s. Her genes weren't going to be further entering the gene pool from her either way.

No lawsuit. That stuff doesn't fly in the islands.

As others have said there is an abundance of warning signs.

Yup. Darwin is Darwin, and age has nothing to do with it. I guess I missed the memo that there's an age limit to the award.

The ability to pass on your genes is how a Darwin Award is given out. A woman in her 50s is a very unlikely candidate for a Darwin Award, she's probably already had kids, or at the very least hit menopause. If she was 19 and childless, this would be an excellent candidate for the award, but she's not, and so her death is just stupid, but not Darwin stupid.

Who can blame her?
Those jets are so tiny and quiet they just sneak up on you.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."
