Used TurboTax online. Usually have refund within 2 weeks or so of e-file.

This year I’m almost at 30 days, and nothing, nada.

Should I be concerned? I had read something that claiming another child tax credit can slow things down? We had child #2 in 2017.

My eFile was accepted 3/29 and my refund was direct deposited 4/11

We had baby number 3 in 2017. We had our refund in 9 days.

Not an expert on the IRS' internal processing practices, so can't respond directly to your question in any meaningful way.

I'd like to helpfully suggest, though, that if you're getting a refund, you're doing it wrong.

You've let the government "borrow" money from you for a year at no interest.

May I suggest you take the time to work through your withholding arrangements and figure out how to fine tune them? If you're doing it right, then you'll be writing a (small) check to Uncle Sam on the 15 of April every year, rather than waiting and wondering if/when Uncle Sam will be paying you back for your interest-free loan to him.

Thanks,

Sap

SapperSteel is spot on. Folks who proclaim they like a refund because its like enforced savings are just plain lazy. (And no, not saying the OP is guilty here at all.) There are much better ways. Figure out and adjust your withholding such that you pay a bit each year. I write a couple hundred dollar check each year with my return. No harm no foul, no pain. Smile

As for the OP's question, yeah check the status of your return/refund at the site mentioned above.

Why are we lecturing a member about his withholdings? Roll Eyes

To answer the question that was asked, yes, I'd be a little worried only because I've never had a refund take more than two weeks to show up in my account.

In an effort to combat certain fraud schemes the IRS is delaying refunds, as required by law, for many early filers.

Are you waiting for a paper check, or is it direct-deposit?

Our direct deposit took maybe two weeks (a couple weeks ago).

Direct deposit.

Maybe I screwed something up and it got flagged? I have a rental property and can write off a bunch of things like HOA fees, insurance, mortgage interest etc.

Go to the IRS.Gov and do the "Where's my refund" check.

I'm in the business and have only had one out of hundreds get held up. His case was a big refund and he got a letter from them to contact them to confirm identity. Letter came within a couple weeks of the e-file and when he contacted they cleared it and now they will finish processing it in 9+ weeks. Stupid part is his was a credit forward to next years estimate so no check from IRS going out - makes no sense - but .gov rarely does.

Presume you got a confirmation that the e-file was accepted (vs rejected).

Within Turbo Tax itself, it gives you a status whether received then whether approved.

there's an app to download on your iphone for where's my refund. It's from the .gov. You just need to remember how much is your refund as that's one of the info to confirm identity.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I’d be concerned.... I e-filed mine (TaxAct) April 2 and both state and federal were in the account on April 6 (bank held Federal for 3 days after that though).

My CPA filed mine electronically back in early March. I got to wondering where my refund was several weeks later....
Then I got the IRS “we are thoroughly examining your information” letter in the mail. They have graciously given themselves up to 60 days to peruse my records and then decide if they will send me my money, or request more information from me or my duly appointed representative.

Took me about 2 weeks, maybe a touch more

I seldom over-pay my state and federal income taxes. But when I do, I just apply the overpayment to my mid-April quarterly ES tax payment. That effectively makes my “refund” instantaneous.

Looks like refund will be arriving by the 18th.

I guess they were just backed up.

Lecturing?

No. I was helping a brother out.

A brother who, by the way, is fully capable of telling me to fuck off all by himself if he sees it the way you do.
