I use Waze, TripAdvisor & OpenTable, and, of course Sigforum! I've long thought that if I was going to make an app it would be one that would work with your location & nav app to let you know local stuff that's around. I can find gas stations and fast food or chain restaurants on my own. I'd like one that lets me know when there is something interesting, historical, cool or fun nearby, able to tailor to interests, of course.

I saw a review recommending "Roadtrippers" which sounded very similar to the above goals. "The ultimate road trip planner to help you discover extraordinary places, book hotels, and share itineraries all from the map."

I went to check the app out and it is only 3.6 stars. There is another that comes up " Culture Trip" at 4.6 stars, and others. Anyone have actual experience with such apps and recommendations?

One useful feature of such an app is provision for dropping a listing when it no longer exists.

I don’t know how many times I have selected a store or restaurant, only to find when I arrive at its location that it no longer exists.

This plagues GPS databases as well.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I agree with that. I dropped my prior GPS app for that reason. I was driving through WV & it actually indicated that there was an In & Out Burger in this small town in the middle of nowhere. I needed gas, so I figured what the heck. It was an old clapboard local grocery that had both "In" and "Out" in the name, but no burgers or drive through Big Grin

I use google maps and it often tells me suggestions where I can go, usually different from the place where people often tell me where I can go.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.
